**Lost Odyssey Official Thread**

I'm about 15 hours in on the 2nd disc. It is very FF overall with tweaks like the whole ring thing system. I'm loving it so far. The dream sequences work well to fill you in with snippets of memories over the 1000 years. Quite well written (translated?) too. The lip sync is done to the English track so anything else is like watching an old kung fu movie :D

15 hours and already one the second disk, that dont sound too bad, you probably missed a bit. I cant wait to get it though with all this positive feedback:)

Right, So I have a 360...

If I buy an Asian version of this game, I'll beable to play it in english with english subs?

Just to clarify. because I'm tempted if that's the case.

The asian version comes with English voice over and subtitles. There's also Korean or Japanese voice over if you want that.

My 15 hours was a fairly laid back play through. I'm taking my time and talking to all the town folk as certain encounters trigger new dream sequences.

Is the combat all turn based? I've never been into that sort of thing although it does look good, I remember playing a ps2 FF game once and getting amazingly bored as you walked for a couple of mins and then ran into some randomly appearing enemies, walk a bit further then meet pretty much the same ones again..

I did enjoy mass effect though.

oh but I hated the blue dragon demo, so if it's anything like that...

this is better than both blue dragon and Mass effect. If i were to liken it to anything....it would be....gulp....FF7...there i said it! To be fair i think thats what its SUPPOSED to be, if you know FF7 as well as i do (several playthroughs) then you wont fail to seethe huge number of similarities in every aspect. But saying that is a bad thing is a bit like refusing to eat a second steak because the first was so good! Or refusing to have sex with kelly brook...twice.

is this as easy as blue dragon?

I'd say it's harder than Blue Dragon. Even the regular random battles can get tough later on. You'll run into the same patterns of enemies though and you'll find yourself repeating strategies but at least there's no magic win button. I've died a few times when encountering some bosses for the first time. It's just that unforgiving JRPG staple.

Hmm I'm tempted to get this but I'm not really sure if I'll give it a good play.

The only RPG in this style I played start to finish was FFVII. I tried the later ones but I just couldn't get stuck into them as much.

I semi-enjoyed Mass Effect but didn't get round to completing it, I dunno if it would be worth me getting this one.
