So a friend just lost a set of keys, and have also had some recent near misses (retracing steps etc)

What is your solution for avoiding loss of a set of keys from pockets ?
I usually carry house bunch of 4 keys (car separate) just on a metal ring.
Ensuring these stay in trousers or running/cargo shorts, with low depth pockets is a hassle, a top with a zipped breast pocket is the most reliable solution.
Any recommendation for a man bag (#1), key fob(maybe heavy), reliable tethering solution, or an InternetOfThings(IOT) solution. (innovative kickstarters)

Cost of re-cutting keys £4.25per yale, a rip-off ?
Local shop - the only one in the village, wants that exhorbitant sum, and, for several, becomes expensive.
I am not sufficently paranoid to pay for a home insurance option.

#1 The female solution of a handbag is not a bullet proof solution itself ("did you have them when you left the house ...", "which shops have you been in")

I put them in my pocket, it hasn't failed me yet. You could always try one of those key reel things. You attach it your belt and it's on elastic, so you can use them without unclipping it.

Regular keys live in a secure jacket pocket, non regular keys (large bunch of) live in a bag I use for work stuff.

Can't be bothered with shallow pockets or having them in trouser pockets as a regular thing.

If it's timpsons say goodbye to your cash.

This is a place I go to: prices are so much lower it's amazing: https://www.cobblersandkeys.co.uk/

And yes they do actually cut standard yales for 99p, prices are up from there but that's all I need usually.

You live in a village and still need keys? Shouldn't you be able to leave everything wide open and nothing gets nicked like here?

I also go to them, they do a great job on resoleing shoes, good price too.

Sounds cheap compared to it meant to be close to £200 just to replace my car key if I lose it...

got a spare id lanyard from work clipped onto my keys. Loop lanyard around my belt, keys in pocket so far so good :)

House keys live in back pocket, bike keys live in zipped jacket pocket.

Only ever lost one set of house keys when I was 17 and far too distracted by beer and the promise of boobs to care where they'd gone.

house keys always the same pocket, i keep them minimal (literally front door key, back door key, and a usb stick)

car key goes seperately

i know some folk tend to go for the medieval flail approach to key carrying- massive bunch of keys on a long chain, guess they're hard to lose when it's that bulky.

I have a Yale smartlock and if I forget my Smartthings presence sensor I can unlock my door either with my phone or via a code on the handle. :)

Girl says to tom_e "if you paid for my drinks all night I promise you I show you some Boobs "

Tom_e Buys this girl all the drinks she wants all night long and at the end of the night tom_e asks can I see them boobs now..

Girl picks up The sun paper off the table and turns it to page 3 and says here you go :D

I have a carabiner keychain with strap to keep mine on - 1-2 people for some reason gave me some **** about it but they've lost at least 2-3 sets of keys so joke is on them.

I also make sure I'm not needlessly carrying old keys, etc. so I don't have a massive ball of keys.

Have you managed to find a way to replace the motherboard battery in the tags without breaking those little plastic retention tabs?

You were there weren't you...:D

This, only set I've ever "lost" was when I was drunk after getting into the house, I managed to put them in the shoes I was wearing and found them again 6 months later when I went to put them on again.

A place for everything and everything in its place. My keys are always either in my pocket or one location at home. It's almost impossible to lose them if they only every live in these two places.

yes a karibiner could work (can you duplicate keys from an photo)

ok it is a town with a crime rate - that was poetic license for the little britain reference
