Lost set of keys

yes a karibiner could work

I don't bother with the locking ones, etc. just the slim quick ones and a flat ribbon strap to a keyring. I spend enough time doing physically active stuff its not improbable to displace keys that aren't in a zipped pocket or tethered.

Have you managed to find a way to replace the motherboard battery in the tags without breaking those little plastic retention tabs?
Nope!! Really annoying, I sent one back because of it and got a replacement but to be honest it just lives in my laptop bag now and unlocks the door as I walk up so I've just taped it up so it doesn't come apart. Really bad design though.

I find that not losing my keys is the cheapest way to resolve this issue. Haven't lost a key, phone, wallet, nothing in well over 10 years.

I have a combination lock fixed onto the brickwork of my house, but hidden from view behind a thick (and prickly) berry bush. That contains a spare house key. Haven't lost a key yet though. As for placement, in my right pocket (jeans, work trousers, shorts... whatever I'm wearing). Inside of the house, I keep them in a shoe inside a cupboard, so it wouldn't be an obvious placement if someone broke in. That said, I don't have a car, so no car keys to nick and of course no car to nick either.

thanks - (when I do not have a zip pocket somewhere) Keeping in pocket and attaching to a belt loop or belt with lanyard(or Kyper) seems the way to go

for trousers/shorts without loop/belt did see idea of a bull-dog clip for lanyard attach at pocket mouth.

tom_e an option that may appeal to you http://www.phillymag.com/be-well-philly/2013/10/08/10-smart-ways-lose-keys-running/ - I never knew,
(... for hipsters with long hair that also shows one option.)

I had a close one once - Lost work keys - they slid out of the stupid shallow pocket on works bomber jacket - first I knew was when phone went and little old lady said "have you lost your keys" quick look and yes I have - They opened every company building in Midlands and North Wales. Oh yes - had a tab on keys offering a reward if found.

My house keys are on a big ring and a spring loaded hook which clip onto belt loop just above pocket in jeans - Car keys only there if out in car.

I always loose stuff. I'm so clumsy.

A few months ago I went into b&m and went down one isle. Bought two tubs of paint....I walked straight back to my car. I didn't have a free hand so I pushed the button from the outside of my pocket to open the car door. Put the paint in my boot.

Sat down... And I couldn't find my car key. I began to doubt myself that I actually unlocked my car... And perhaps that I left it unlocked. I looked in my car for the key for about 30 Min. I looked everywhere... Boot.... Underneath the car... Down the sides.

Went back to b&m and looked in the isles and asked the staff. Didn't end up finding it. I still swear it's in that car to this day. No idea where I lost it

£7 a key here. Scary prospect when i have the following on my keyring

3x house keys, shed key, 2x work keys + alarm fob (£30 replacement), car key (£30 replacement if I have the spare), 2x parents house keys, bike lock key..

Always zipped coat pocket or last resort jeans but they are bulky enough not to fall out easily..

Trouser pockets are really bad for keys, maybe the other way round.

They are basically rough bits of metal and trouser pockets by nature are cramped and get a lot of jostling and pressure from moving and sitting.

Probably won't go through the outer fabric but the pocket lining leaving holes inside the pocket.

£4.25 is next to nothing. For an item that will last a lifetime if you don't lose it? I don't see why you're complaining...?

Interesting point of view.

Fourth post in this thread is me demonstrating the local key cutting price of 99p per yale.

That's good reason to question £4.25 per yale being described as cheap isn't it?

I would consider the 99p to be cheap, not the £4.25 to be expensive. I suspect the 99p offer is a loss leader, not a market price.

If I'm going on on a few drinks with the lads i will take only the house key, and i will put it in a card slot in my wallet, out with the Family or just to work i have my House key, My parents key, car key, as of yet i have never lost one and they live in my pocket.

edit: couple of other tether options

That's some old gear there.. Why don't you put the keys on that hex then if you drop them you'll hear the massive clang! :D
