Well, so far I have played up to the bit where
you go through the caves with Locke.
I must say that this is probably one of the worst games I have ever played, and a true insult to the TV series.
I'll list my criticisms of this diabolical game:
- Lack of actual character voices
- Lack of continuity
- Photography flashbacks, eugh
- "Previously On Lost"
- Consolised menu system
- Consolised controls
- Pointless trade system
- Lack of skippable conversation
- Lack of skippable cutscenes
I begin to wonder if the developers have ever watched the TV series; the load screens are spammed with pointless quotes and the ingame characters seem to spout their "catchphrases" (i.e., Lockes "Don't tell me what i can't do") at stupidly inappropriate times. Everything just seems really forced, the dialogue and character motivations are never natural. Since when does the Black Smoke only kill people in the darkness? Did Michael really start building the boat before everyone had moved into the caves? Did the others stand in the jungle shooting people for fun?
The Previously idea is a good one, but its has been shockingly implemented. If it was done whenever you loaded a game from the menu screen it would be fine, but I seriously don't see the need to be informed constantly about the past 5 minutes of gameplay whenever I enter a new chapter. They didn't even get the proper voice actor for this either.
There just seems to have been no thought gone into this game. The devs have obviously looked at each other and proceeded to have a conversation that goes something like this:
Dev 1 - "Lets make a game about LOST!"
Dev 2 - "Whats that"
Dev 4- "Its a popular American TV show"
Dev 2 - "Whats TV?"
Dev 3 - "Great idea, this will be well easy money"
Dev 1 - "Exactly, people like LOST. Firstly however, we need to remember not to make an open ended plotline, like in the show. Therefore not only will we make a horribly linear story, we will also remove and change key story elements from the show!"
Dev 3 - "So what relevance will this have to LOST?"
Dev 4 - "The Box art?"
I really was expecting one hell of a lot more from this game. Developers complain that they aren't making enough money. Well, if they keep spewing out games like this they might as well start walking to the job center now.
