Lost weight, a bit miffed!

Well maybe you're taking in fewer calories than you're burning off?

Your smilie still has a Santa hat on.

Since March 1 I decided to blast out a modified version of the V-Diet (because I'm not spending £200 on their supplements) and in 17 days I've literally gone from having an ab to having a six pack, lost 7kg in two weeks. The first two weeks I craved food quite a lot but now it's fine. Will keep going until the end of March then get back on bulking, but from a lower body-fat base.

Diet basically consists of:

Lots of whey protein (with bit of coffee for taste)
Dried apricots (fruit)
Bananas (fruit-nutrients or whatever)
Tuna (protein)
Eggs (protein and fat)
Peanut butter (fat)
Many Vitamin tablets!!
Psyllium husk (fibre)
Green tea (metabolism + vit c)
Lots of chili powder (metabolism and also part of my spice training).

Yup, well aware of that. I drink more water now, usually just have a glass of pure apple or orange juice with lunch or something.

I set the resistance to 6. Im going by what the machine tells me. How do you work out the calories using heart rate? Mine is up at about 170-180BPM (Again, according to the machine's sensors). I must be doing something right though, after half an hour I am drenched in sweat and breathing heavily, which is what I use to gauge a good workout :D

I'm not sure how to calculate it exactly but I what you're doing sounds about right ;) try here to work out your heart rate zone.

The problem is I've always been a big lad. I have a heavy frame and broad shoulders, as well as being fat, so shifting weight has always been hard. I must just have a slow metabolism :(

Edit: Thanks for the site, it looks like I should be aiming to run slower for longer to burn fat. Thanks.

I also have never been very good at losing weight - I can maintain and put it on easily, but it was always so hard to lose it. I never had abs, even when I was young.

Two weeks where I actually dieted properly and I can say ******* to that, just eat less!

You may, but it doesn't stop you from losing weight. Try keeping a food diary and weighing the exact amount of food you eat / calorie content then from there post them up maybe in sports arena and I'm sure some more knowledgable people will give you advise.

try having brand flakes or some other cerial for breakfast with an apple. tuna salad for lunch and a chicken breast with rice/potato for dinner.

and water if you are hunger, and go for a run too

I think someone else already mentioned you should check the sports section. The steady state cardio won't be helping much, your diet isn't great and you should really be lifting heavy weights. It's very easy to change your body composition for the better.

You might think you'll end up looking like Arnie but you won't - you'll just end up slimmer and fitter looking.

Ive actually cut out the weights lately because I want to lose weight quickly for a certain reason. I thought building muscle wouldn't help with that. I will check out SA anyway though. Ta.

I've been trying to maintain my weight of about 13st whilst not gaining.
I've stuck to a diet of 2x tuna/sweetcorn deep filled sandwiches at Tesco for breakfast 2x chicken salad sandwich for lunch, then 2x chicken and sweetcorn sandwiches for dinner, only trying this for two weeks before i rotate to some other food. It works out to about 2400 calories a day. Have been drinking about 3ltr water a day and having some mixed fruit salads as well now and then.
So far i actually feel slimmer after 8 days and according to the scales have lost 1/4 stone, even had to notch my belt one in! I'm 5ft 10 and medium build, 26. Don't exercise ever and work in IT, so not exactly active :D I thought around 2400 calories might even be pushing it, i don't exactly have a quick metabolism either and can get fat fast. Any ideas why i'm actually losing weight??

The diet I'm on is pretty boring, but I don't spend more than 30 minutes a day eating so I don't notice... surely you're biting into your 5th chicken salad sandwich and just wishing you'd die?

For your body to simply maintain your muscles it needs to burn calories. Ok you might burn say 300 calories running for a certain amount of time, but you might have been burning 250 by just sitting there (those numbers are just pulled out of the air but you get the idea).

Weightlifting in my view is the best way to reshape your body, whatever you want doing. Should add for the cardio geeks that some High Intensity Interval Training or similar will make losing weight easier but it isn't absolutely necessary.
