Lostprophets Singer Facing Child Sex Charges

Bit of a silly ruling there. OK to sleep with a 16 year old but not ok to film yourself doing it? :p

Indeed. They raised the age of definition of a child in 2003 to anyone below the age of 18. Possessing indecent images of children is a crime unless, in the case of 16yr olds, you are married to them, or living together.

If you are not, you cannot make or possess indecent images of them, but you can have sex with them from age 16 perfectly legally.

The law really is an ass sometimes!

There was a drum and bass dj/mc stuck on the sex offenders list because of some video of teenage girls that was not illegal at the time but became illegal because of some uk law. (must be the law the guy above me mentions)
he got branded a pedo even though he wasn't
I can't remember who it was though and googling brings up no relevant search results at all

Wait, what? So if you're a 16 year old lad and are in possession of indecent images of your girlfriend who is also 16, you are technically foul of the law?

Yep.

I remember reading about the increase of "sexting" and how many people would technically fall foul of the law (but would likely be let off). Anecdotal for sure, but still.

With minimal digging you can see what this guy has been doing has been an open secret for at least two years. Absolutely ridiculous that the police didn't act on the reports made or pick it up through their own surveillance.

Yes. But it gets better. It is even illegal for a person of 16/17 to take erotic, sexually suggestive or explicit photos of themselves, or to possess such photos of themselves!

There is one case I read about where a 17yo lad got put on the sex offenders register for possessing indecent images of 15-17yo's, some of which were photos of himself posing and had to be included in the charges against him!

"Sexting" is a modern craze with the youth of today, but a completely illegal one in most cases.

"His distraught family described how online porn turned a ‘happy normal lad from the Valleys’ into a paedophile who ‘will be remembered like Jimmy Savile’."

Here we go again, lets blame the internet for his actions.

hate when they start doing this.
anyone would think there wasn't paedophiles before the internet the way these people talk.

One of the great inconsistencies of law in this country.

You can have sex with a 16 year old girl, but you can't look at pictures of her.

Erm...I dont, but I know I wouldnt be feeling on top of the world if one of my ex's and friends (they were friends after they finished dating) admitting do the stuff he has done and she seems like a 'normal' person

think about it moron

I think his point was that she could have been 'in on it'. As others have said - an outside image of normality can hide a multitude of sins.

But that is just me playing devil's advocate. I think she will be in shock and feeling very "icky" that she was ever intimate with this man.

She is on holiday, so it is reported. Bet that has just been spoiled!!

Ta dude, not everyday one gets a free IQ assessment, I was merely pointing out that we have no way of knowing her moral standards after all weve been fooled by many other media faces, I'm surprised you didnt get that what with you being so much cleverer than everybody else. :D

^^ Spot on BuffetSlayer but if you got my meaning you could be a moron too so baring that in mind you won't mind me pointing out that you may have spelt your name wrong if you were struggling to spell Buffy the Vampire Slayer, sorry if im wrong I struggle with all this thinking and such.

:D

As much as I would like to insert my stake into Buffy, the spelling of my name is deliberate insomuch as I would actually prefer a steak from my Buffet to be inserted into me ;)

Preferrably followed my much quaffing of ale :p

I was calling you moronic as I am thinking about her as I would think about maybe a friend and (as BuffetSlayer said) she will probably be feeling 'icky'

Your comment read like she would have been in on it and have no feelings at all towards all this - which I would find very hard to believe seeing that she is a mother herself now

Unless (dons tin foil hat) her child is actually spawn of Watkins and she was planning and handing him is own baby for free access (/removes tin foil hat)

Wow. That's... eye opening.
