LOTRO to go 'free to play' in the autumn....

Maybe I should just re-sub to Aion for my pvp fix or get my finger out and lvl my summoner in Allods.
 
Just to say The beta is up on fileplanet and you gain points for the store as well, think about 5000, client is 9.90gb, i have over 1 hour left downloading. ( US beta it seems, not EU )
 
I recommend people play the trial now, and if you like it, get the lifetime sub before the free to play version is released.

I tried DDO a long time ago, just couldnt get into it, I despise instancing in MMOs at the best of times and when I played DDO virtually everything I wanted to do in the game required me to step into and out of an instance. Made the whole game feel completely disjointed and absolutely shattered the atmosphere. Drove me nuts, was like when I last played EQ2 and in order to simply walk from one part of the city to another part of the city I had to "zone" about 9 times.

Although LOTRO also makes use of instancing, it at least has a large world that I can run around in and explore without ever having to actually "zone" if I dont want to. (though I would still prefer it if there was no instancing at all)
 
I can't log in to the beta, there does not seem to be a link to the beta forums, my log in doesn't work on the offical ones, also logging into the game says I'm using the wrong password. When I'm not.
I remember playing some other turbine mmo a while back and having the same really messed up issue.

I can log into my account and change my password and try use that and it still says it's wrong, aghhh!

The store is practically identical! They obviously ported it straight over, I noticed one of the beta screens of it still had a sands of menechtarun item on it :)
