LOTRO -

This has been updating for about 2hrs and its got a helluva lot more left to download. Its made virgin throttle my internet connection. And its currently saying...

223% (4149/25243)

God damnit :(

Haha. I had the same problem. Borrowed a DVD of the game from a friend and I had to download 29,000 files, took about a day to do, on and off.

I have made a character on Laurelin. I have two characters on Snowbourne, a champ and a tank (don't remember the class name) I really enjoyed my Champ when I played well over a year ago and would like to go back to being one again. Although, I might try Warden, they look interesting, any one played/playing one?

turns out its not that high a % after all.

its around 50% done.

Thats since about 4.45pm today :(

took me an age to update when book 7 was released but that was because the whole server pop was downloading the files at the same time (good work turbine!)

and for the person that asked about new starter areas, the Elf and Dwarf starter areas have been totally revamped (i havent seen em but that is whats in the patch notes)

aparently the quest lines have been overhauled a lot to make them more fun and bring the elf / dwarf lines together in the middle of the starter map in a better way.

i need to get home from work to grind some more lothlorien rep, my mincer needs the lothlorien bracelet!

Lokion lvl 60 Minstrel
Lokio lvl 60 Hunter
Officer United Kingdoms
Snowbourn

Finally playing this now :)

Updating took a LONG time :(

Still as gorgeous as it was when I last played though. I made a human minstrel but Im waiting for my mate to start the trial then ill start again and see whats what :)

I bought the gold edition for a tenner instore , so i get a free mount at 25, a welcome mat and some other junk

I played it for around 6 months, I had a lvl 50 Guardian (Rohan Male). Lotro is hands down the best looking MMO out there, but I found the raid experience lacking oomph. After slogging it out in the Rift of Nurz Gashu for 6 weeks I got bored of it and quit about 3 months before MoM came out.

Have just started this game but have rolled on evernight - no indicators as to the population on any of these servers. I see quite a few people but not loads as of yet - though only lvl 8 atm.

Is snowbourn a good server to start on then population wise?

I am on the evernight server, my kin is The Free Peoples Front

Look me up anytime and if you are looking for a kin that appeals to all sorts of levels then /tell me

in game names are: - finbarwulf (Lore-master), finbarthalion (hunter)

You know the trial doesn't let you send tells? Gold spammer measure. I only play it in bursts, but always found it to be one of the more sociable mmo's. Try Laurelin, it's RP server.

Yeah I tried talking to people that were next to me. During my whole trial I met three people. Only two spoke to me.

I found it quite a boring experience. I am sure that its better than what i experienced but as my trial has run out I wont get the chance to see. I am certainly not paying any money from what I experienced.

Ive been playing with my mate (he is on trial) tonight for about 3hrs

graphics are stunning and its structured in a way that can be played nice and casually.

Really enjoyed it. got to lvl 10 so far :)

On Laurellin server so if anyone is on there gimme a shout. Character is called Status :)

Laurelin is the place to be. Large pop and friendly kind. Much more mature pop than wow IMO and generally more suited to pick up and play styles. I prefer the pvp and combat of wow, has More immediacy but the storyline, lore, players and graphics etc make the experience more fun.

Thats an accurate assessment. I generally prefer pvp, but certainly I commend LOTRO for its storyline and more importantly its community. Particularly on Laurelin, always found the Laurelin community to be mature, helpful and with plenty of RP. Thank god. Best RP community I have encountered since my UO days of Catskills (though admittedly the RP days on catskills were far better, LOTRO is about as close to that as I am likely to get for RP these days)

agreed Laurelin is the server to roll on if you want the best ingame community, Snowbourn has a bigger population but also the worst community .. ./hides from loki

got my third char to lvl 60 the other day  , yes im a Lotro whore !! and now plan to get my Warleader ; aptly titled 'Bupa' to rank 8 ...

got my replacement gtx280 the other day so have the gfx cranked to max on dx10 and its truly stunning in some places.. i just hope swtor doesnt get released for a few more years atm :D

Would anyone like to play through some of this with me? I love it but it gets a bit lonely questing alone :)

feel free to add my chars to your friends list, Charvel,Eekol,Saurazgul, or my lowly lvl 13 Minstrel Peloq.. that way you can send me a tell if you need help :) ... i'll probably be using Peloq quite a bit after getting my mains to 60

I've ended up going back to my champ on Snowbourn. Currently 37. I haven't played the class since the game first came out and it's a bit confusing with all the new UI additions, but I'm enjoying it.

Might move my character to another server though as I don't know anyone at all, and would like to level with the odd person now and then.
