The players get ~60% back, ~10% go lottery duty, retailers get ~5% and charities get ~25%. Why not give 100% to a charities?
Thanks for the breakdown, very insightful.

Syndicate I run at work plays every euro millions draw and we regually have small wins.
Put our previous winnings for the year (Quarter of a grand) on the xmas draw and we won back £60 >.> .. One day ;D
I have a direct debit that plays a few, you never know!
One can dream.
Why do people feel more inclined to play when there's a rollover, the prospect of winning £2 million on the ordinary jackpot isn't enough to stake £2 on, but £10 million is??

Lotto hotpicks is better really, 5 numbers and you get £130,000, 4 numbers and you get £7,000.
The caveat is that you can only bet on one prize, but I certainly prefer to have a much better chance of winning a life changing amount of money than a miniscule chance of winning a million.
Have you calculated your winning in proportion to your expenditure?
Would like to know your ROI
also.. who says 'quarter of a grand'? lol.. its £250, not £0.25m..
Its not like the term adapts to inflation.I think mega million jackpot wins would destroy you. I'd just be happy to win enough to buy a house and a car.
The £2 fee is worth it for the dream value alone. Its provided many hours of day dreaming and auto trader flirtations.

I used to play semi-regularly but stopped completely when they literally halved my chances of winning the jackpot by doubling the cost of a ticket!![]()
