Lotus Racing to become Caterham?

Just so I am clear, is this deal that Fernandes won't use the Team Lotus name, and Group Lotus will call the Renault Genii Lada LOLtus chassis just 'Lotus', or has Fernandes actually sold the Team Lotus name to Group Lotus?

I know the court ruling said that Fernandes owned and could use 'Team Lotus', and was not allowed to brand anything just 'Lotus', and conversely Group Lotus had the rights to call something 'Lotus', but were not allowed to call anything 'Team Lotus'. Is this still the case?

The green and yellow is great, much better than the black/mustard/red screw up on the Renault (anyone who has seen the Renault in the flesh will know its not gold, its sort of a mustardy muddy flat yellow colour :()

that was my understanding.

Fernandes has basically accepted Bahar's invitation of a blank cheque to stop calling his team 'Team Lotus', even though he still owns the rights to do so.
 
From what the November press release that TL/Caterham released the Team Lotus name and the ability to use also Lotus in Formula 1 now belongs solely to Group Lotus. They fought through the courts for nothing effectively.
 
It won't, but Lotus Renault have hardly become a likeable bunch have they?

Actually, that's a bit mean. Its pretty much Danny Bahr alone who has done this. Or at least thats the image that has been portrayed.
 
I was only being half-serious, but I've made the point before about their right to be called Lotus. I've never said that this meant they were suddenly likeable, and like you (and everyone else), I much prefer the Caterham lot. But in my eyes, I prefer the latter having their own name to race under, and it makes sense to have both the racing team and the car manufacturer under the same umbrella at Lotus, even if that does mean Bahar running the entire brand into the ground, rather than just part of it.
