Low fps in games

everyone saying that 300fps with that spec is unrealistic is wrong.

the fps result in the stress test in CSS is much much higher than your average in game fps.

i get 200+ fps in the stress test with only pentium D 950 and a 7600GS

Mate has a pc with same enough specs, he gets around 50-60fps at the most in public (20 man pub). He uses pretty much lowest settings and 800*600 resolution.

I dont think you got 300FPS mate hell if you got 400 it would be nothing short of a miracle.

Are you sure you get 300FPS with that setup

I get 320FPS in the CSS Video Test with my 4870x2 and Q6600 @ 3.1GHz (max settings, 4xAA + 4xAF @ 1920x1200) (also having set "FPS_MAX 700" in console)

I find it VERY hard to believe that you were getting 300fps+ at max settings.

Im going on what everyone else is saying. i do find it hard to believe a 7XXX GT will out perform a 4870X2

but im not a css fan so how would i know lol. it is interesting though and would love a screenshot

I get 212 on my system but thats with everything low, 1024x768, dx8.1 and Caseys Cfg. In game its playable - I don't pay attention to fps especially since I only play on two UKCS servers 46 & 62 man. (I'm looking to upgrade in May ;) )

I know for the latest DNA drivers you need to mess around with using ReadyDriverPlus to to get them to work. Guessing its the same for Nvidia alternatives.

Max settings, at say 1280x1024, should get him seeing around 70fps max, by my reckoning.

If I'm wrong, then I'm getting a 7600GT for the g/f's PC :p
dvdbunny would be proud of this thread!

i managed 618fps with the same cpu and a 8800gts ...i know the 8800gts is far more powerful but it was more to do with the tweaking that the fps got so high.

i had a screenshot which showed it about a year ago which i posted elsewhere.

*edit*
the link still works

300 still seems a bit high for your spec...im not saying its not possible as if you are not clueless and have been tweaking then 300-400 would be possible.

well done.

Now do that again with the game at max settings and no tweaks, as the OP professes to do.

didn't think so.

i never said it was possible on max settings with no tweaks...so why ask me to prove his claim ?

So your 618fps post was completely irrelevant to the guy's claim, and this thread?

Why bother posting it then?

why bother to post your bitter comments repeatedly at me?
ive said its possible with tweaking and yet you just cant lose that bitterness inside of you....and have to make all posts personal ....and over what ?
the old piracy thread ? lol

all you have to do is put me on ignore or just not reply to me and let the threads stay on topic....if you can help yourself

Woah there Chuckles.. I've posted in a jillion piracy threads, and I really don't remember any of your piracy posts. I don't specifically remember any of your posts - sorry! My posts in this thread aren't personal attacks, I just find it incredibly hard to believe that the OP is telling the truth.

Calm down :)

No it didn't.

There's no way in hell a 7600 would give you 300+fps.

would you mind posting a screenshot of that, with cpuz/gpuz to show the 7600GT getting 300fps?

Cheers!

Would love to see this.
I'm a regular CSS player (spec in sig) and only get about max 250fps to 150fps. CSS is processor based so if he is getting 300 - 400fps then I doubt he is only running a E6600 with a fail of a graphics card like the 7600.

My guess is he was running a config that got rid of all the crap in the game and therefore he was running at a high fps. Now that config has been disabled and he is back to running everything on high including all the stuff you don't need.

No way 300 on test with that spec, the FPS you are reporting (90FPS @ Low) sounds right, on Vista. I have a 7800GTX and 90 is pushing it for me. You're going to lose a lot of FPS with that spec on Vista.

I used my Q6600 @ 3.6 and a 7600GT when an old 4870 died on me and running at 1680x1050 with everything on medium gave me 100fps constant, no AA or AF however!

Never run the stress test on it though!

Get ridiculous FPS in that game now :p

off subject... PaulyD you have a simular setup as me and want to ask you something...

do you have 1600 G.Skill at 1.9v and if so is windows reporting it at 1.3Ghz instead of 1.6Ghz.

also do you get post boot errors for VGA bios?

soz for topic change

No disrespect to the OP but he doesn't sound as though he has that much knowledge and his fps claim while highly dubious could be a misunderstood figure that he may have seen on the stress test which can produce silly results that will never be seen in the game. If the claim is 300+ fps in the game then i struggle to believe that no matter what tweaks as the 7600 is a very old card now and my 4870X2 doesn't give me that in css.

i think either its an error that is telling him he has 300 fps or he is missing something, like maybe the '.', are you sure its not 30.0 fps?

I only get like 190 max with 4850

what a shame, only 190? lol... just out of curiosity... how many frames per second can the human eye even recognise? im sure i read somewhere that beyond 60 fps and it just becomes pointless.

im going to try and retreive my steam account tonight, because i cant stand steam i just deleted a while ago, but i suppose if i can get back on with my user i'll be able to re-download all the games like CSS i used to play and then see what my frame rate is like with my Sli GTX 280s... migh actually replay all the half life games on my new rig.. the last two episodes looked fantastically sexy on my old PC.
