Low level formating

im about to sell some hard disks and i was wondering if a single low level format using HDDGURU should be enough to wipe the disk so its not recoverable by average users

or should i do a couple of DoD 5220.22-M passes first before the low level format

I use Darik's Boot And Nuke drive wiper tool on drive I need to clear.

is that Boot And Nuke just a wiper or low level formatter as well

i want to do a low level format so the drive appears "new"

Use the manufacturers tools to do a low level format, otherwise called a Full "Zero Fill". Thats more than enough

As long as its DoD 5220.22-M, one pass should be enough. More for peace of mind...

1 lot of 0's is fine...

The ONLY way of recovering a drive that has been zeroed is by people with EXTREMELY expensive equipment that can analyse magnetic patterns on drive platters...

So unless you've been looking doing something criminal or any sick crime over the net then you've got nothing to worry about as the only people who would have the money to waste on that would be the police.

....With tax payer's money, not that its a waste but you get what I mean
