i am pretty sure there is no meaningful performance difference between 2 sticks of dual rank and 4 sticks of single rank.
driving 4 sticks carries the risk of motherboard not supporting the rated speed when most boards are tested at 3200MHz for 4 slots. this has been true for ages up on ages, in old days memory weren't ovrclockable then there was no issues. since memory overclocking is a big thing, this fundamental hasnt really changed. if you are overclocking ie going beyond the motherboard and/or CPU specification, it is considered overclocking. therefore stability and even system boot is not guaranteed.
