I was wondering how common they are for other people?

I had one the other night after reading an article about lucid dreams (after not having one for a few years)..

In the dream I tested out lots of things to see how real everything was, tapping objects to see how they felt, dropping an object to see if it broke and how the sharp edges felt etc..

everything seemed real except I opened several books but was unable to read the text... and the area I was in I was unable to leave it just kept repeating.

or maybe I jsut had a dream in which i did everything I would do if I had a lucid dream?

do other people have regular lucid dreams? does everyone have them?

I don't think everybody gets them (highly unlikely), though for that large proportion that do apparently they can be controlled. Sort of...tailored 'consciously' if that makes any sense.

I used to have them as a teenager, and aye, they did get kinky. :p

I have them now and again, for a while, I don't know I'm dreaming, then I do certain 'tests' in my dream before I take control of it.

Fortunately, I've not had to perform these tests in real life yet

The only lucid dream I can ever remember having was one where I could jump as high as I wanted and wherever I wanted, and was hopping around my town over buildings. Everything was in the right place, which makes sense as I know what the town looks like - just not from above.

I used to be quite sceptical of Lucid Dreaming as it seemed crazy to me and I'd never had one...

But then I read up on the techniques you can use to trigger them, such as waking up for an hour and going back to sleep.

Then I had one!! The problem is actually REALISING that you are dreaming. It takes a lot of effort (Hence people say about doing "reality checks" during the day so you do it asleep). I didn't do any reality checks but the reason I realised I was dreaming was that in the dream I was a woman!!

And so I had a boyfriend in the car that I was trying to explain I was dreaming to, he said prove it and so I did by changing the clouds to rainbow colours by thinking about it!

It was an amazing experience, and I'll try it again whenever I can be bothered going to sleep at a regular time on the weekend haha!

I haven't had one in a while, I seem to go through phases of having them regularly, then none for a while.

I used to almost nightly when I was younger but these days, I only have one every week or two. However, I'm also able to control all my dreams regardless of if I'm lucid or not but it's not as fun.

I have loads, unable to run/walk away from something attacking me in my dream, had on the other night were I was being hunted and tried to ring 999 but every time i hit 9 it came up as 5 on the phone

That's really common I think. Where the person him/herself is just crap at something. Like never being able to connect a punch in a dream.

Then you were not lucid dreaming, you can do whatever you like, and control everything when lucid dreaming :)

I probably have one a week. They are great things when you have them, especially if you are in a slightly strange dream situation and then getting involved in things then

I think I have them but then I wake up too quickly to take control for long enough to make it worthwhile, im going to try rubbing my hands / spinning next time to see if it keeps it going.

Used to get them all teh time at uni, messed up sleeping pattern + being able to snooze for hours without an alarm or need ot get up. Is teh best way to get them.

As you said it's not real control. you cant just do stuff, but you do kind of think things and nudge it.

I had one last night that I was playing real life MW2 against Oneshot.

I do get them an awful lot though, and as you say the things you do to 'test' the world you are in. It's a very bizarre scenario.

Has anyone else also had a dream where you think you are having trouble sleeping, but you are actually asleep....that's a mind ****!

slight the oposite, years ago there was an episode of startrek where they had to think about the moon, and if they looked out of a window if they could see if they knew it was not reality (or something like that)..

so for the next few months while dreaming I frequently realised I was dreaming by seeing the moon when I looked out of a window..

I often find however that I wake up fairly soon after I become lucid...

I;m in fat git mode now but when I go to super fit mode I dont sleep well (often waking up during the night) thats when I have most lucid dreams..

thats what I often wonder, am I just dreaming I know I'm dreaming and so do all the things I would if I wanted to test if it was a dream..
