Lulzsec!

Its the recession. They can't afford individual accounts.

Boohockey! The man has stupid amounts of money spent on him! :p

They went for Minecraft? In that case it seems they are good at hacking but definitely need to employ someone else for their PR.

All they did was DDOS Minecraft to be fair. But really, stupid thing to target IMHO. All they were doing was trying to **** off gamers.

I see it as no coincidence that all this started at the same time that most uni's around the world finished for the summer. Bet it's bunch of computer science guys trying to make themselves look cool, as to most people, they are probably considered boring and geeks.

they didn't hack minecraft, they ran a DDoS attack which is just a case of running some scripts that you can download from lots of sites online. Not exactly brain surgery.

That whitehouse email ... looks fake. Flag@whitehouse is a PR email address and the password was karlmarx?!

And EvE online, which frankly nobody actually cared about.

Woke up this morning and eve was back up and I'd lost not time on my training queue... I especially liked their tirade at 4chan after... showed them for exactly what they are, immature frustrated geeks just wish I could see the look on their faces when some of them get caught and reality catches up to them aka hard time. If they think they can hide behind a few distributed proxies and/or a bit of wifi wardriving in this day and age they are sadly mistaken.

Yeah I just saw that article as well...

Well they're certainly getting what they wanted. Media attention.

Does anyone else find it funny that they keep missing out 'Minecraft' when they do the run down of what they hacked? They keep ending it with 'and others' despite the fact the only 'other' is Minecraft.

Apparently they have a "Hack request line" now?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13777129

Surely this kind of stunt is taking it too far? I mean they can't seriously believe the authorities are going to let them get away with this?

The organisations and companies that it targets are often portrayed as having acted against the interests of citizens or consumers

Gonna have a hard time arguing that one with tuesdays events.

They won't get away with it, it just takes a bit of time and effort to narrow down the individuals involved and unfortunatly taking their online presence offline makes it harder to do that.

Was reading on the Register (They are a bit behind) that Eve Bot net attacks before taking over a rivals area are pretty common. That's pretty sad, just says to me that somehow people are making money out of EVE.

You'd think that Lulz would target the most prolific people that do that sort of thing if they have any values, but obviously they don't.

I guess they are realising that hitting minecraft, league of legends, etc. is hardly titanic and infact makes them laughing stock.

I meant the reports from the BBC, not Lulz.

"June 14: EVE Online, League of Legends, The Escapist and others"
"It also claimed to have hit the websites of gaming magazine The Escapist, and multiplayer games EVE Online and League of Legends."

Seriously how hard is it to write Minecraft instead of 'and others'.

Well that makes it even worse in my books as that is just a pointless thing to do that causes nothing but inconvenience, it isn't illustrating any of that Robin Hood idealism they portraying in the media. Speaking of media, spotlight is something they seem to enjoy a lot with their hotline release and subsequent reports on news sites.

If they are genuinely trying to stage a protest they are going about it the wrong way and are causing more damage to the cause frankly.

They should aim for Runescape and WoW they will get a lot more 'lulz' from that.

They probably play WoW which is why they didn't target it. If all they wanted to do was annoy people WoW is standing in the middle of a shooting gallery with a bullseye on its chest.
