Lunch Break

Technically I work 8.45-5.15 with a 30 minute lunch, however as I am often out in the field I just take little breaks here and there when I want to.

When in the office I dont actually take lunch, but I will take a 5 minute break in the morning, pop to the shop for a sarnie at lunchtime and then take a 5-10 minute break in the afternoon.

I do not feel the need to take my lunch as its pretty flexible in my office so I just take time when I need to.

1 hour taken between 12-2pm. I vary between eating out, go for a walk an grab a sandwich or get food downstairs and eat at my desk.

9-5 Office job with an hour break usually between 12-2 and either go to sandwich shop or restaurant unless im at a client site - needless to say it depends on the client location then however most have canteens (No such thing as a free lunch? Lol :))

work 9-6, get one hour lunch break and two ten minute breaks (one morning, one afternoon)

Works out nicely

I work 8-5, with an hour lunch, 2 x 15min breaks (1 in the morn, 1 in the afternoon). We have to make coffee during out breaks though, no coffee/tea at our desks

Work 9-6 or 11-8. I am entitled to 2x 15 min breaks and 1 hour lunchbreak (unpaid).

Normally I will skip the 2nd 15 min break as I am either too busy or cant be bothered to leave my desk so will generally just take it easy for 15 mins instead.

For my lunch I will try and take something in with me like a book but will usually end up chatting with others in the staff room.

For the next 2 months I expect to miss all my lunch breaks and 15 min breaks as I will be too busy to take them. Last year I think I went 7 weeks without a lunch break and just grabbed the odd 5 mins for a tea when I could :eek:

I don't. I just graze whilst working. I sometimes stop, but I seldom have time to...

I eat al desco too sometimes but it does not do my keyboard any good!

On my end I'll take a walk up to Leather Lane market and check out the out of date stall because they have some good deals on chocolate at times and then grab a snack from one of the vans up there.

If it is sunny then I will take orders from my colleagues and cycle over to Spitalfields and get Mama Thai for them.

I usually take an hour for lunch.

I work 12 hour shifts and we get 45mins of (unpaid) breaks throughout that. I take 10 mins in the morning, 25 for lunch and another 10mins in the afternoon.

The joys of working in the public sector...

What gets me is the people who start having a go at you when you go out to get lunch and come back, then they sit there huffing and puffing saying "well I havnt even had a chance to blink today"

Its like someone is putting a gun to their head and shout "DONT YOU DARE BLOODY STOP!!!!"

Same at the end of the day when they are supposed to finish at half 4 but sit there until half 5 or even 6, as they are either not getting their work done in time, or just not fussed at leaving, then they complain because they worked later then they should have done. Pretty much every day

I am busy, but then I know how to handle my work load, so I still get time to browse forums :)

20mins every hour, paid. free food and coffee, full meal once a night.

most of the time just watch crap tv like police interceptors and other random cop shows or play pool or the xbox.

Depends how long my shift is.
>5 = Nadda.
6 = 20 mins
7-9 = one hour
9 1/2-11 = one and a half hours
12 = two hours.
12+ = 2 hours plus 15 minutes for every extra 4 hours I work.

My work is quite generous with breaks n stuff.

I'm supposed to get an hour but that never happens, I just eat on the go most of the time - I'm lucky if I get 5 minutes.

I'm quite often all over the country so if I'm at a customer site in some bizarre town that I should never be in I'll often just hammer through my work so I can leave a bit earlier. If I'm forced to go out (ie. customer can't leave me to it) then I'll drive or wander around depending on whether I'm in the middle of nowhere or not.

Otherwise if I'm in the office I officially get a 1 hour break. Sometimes I don't bother taking it but other times I'll just nip out to grab some food or sit and chat with the support guys. Depends what I'm in the mood for :)

Get a sandwich from the sandwich shop below my building and eat it at my desk whilst browsing for half an hour or so.
