Tried a few years and years ago, they all seemed to leave a sticky mess
Try a more liquid based than those white cream ones.

Edit, atlantis is worth a mention too!
Was that the one that had a bit of an aniseed odour?
Some Lynx/Axe was/is better than others, personally I bought it (never as a teenager and I'm nearly 53 now) as the good ones were a reasonable compromise between the real cheapo stuff from Boots and stuff like Aramis or Armani which you bought once a year at the Duty Free.
The most lamented 90's fragrance, as I've remarked on here before is the old Celsius Aftershave, vanished without a trace. Insignia was pretty good too, albeit not the Rio brand which smelt like next door's aromatic pipe tobacco (I'm assuming it was tobacco).
Chocolate was pretty bad - who wants to smell like they've just finished a shift mopping the floor of the chocolate factory. Horrendous.
Try an aftershave called Quorum Silver - has a similar vibe to Lynx Java. Cheap as chips, too.
This is one reason why my family don’t do Christmas presents. My unemployed sister in law gets me a Lynx body wash/deodorant set for Christmas. Every. Single Year.
I wouldn't mind if it was a decent anti-perspirant that served a purpose, but their deodorant is basically useless guff.

My wife has crazy sensitive skin, with so many allergies I don’t even bother with perfume. This is one reason why my family don’t do Christmas presents.
Giving toiletries as presents is a no no, unless get given products they like and can use.
As a colleague has very sensitive skin. Always gets stuff she can’t use. Another friend gets stuff which is more suited to someone 50 years older (Lily of the Valley)
This look you're going for? No.
