M.2 Adapter and SSD's speed

I would say it's the slot you plug it in that will define your speeds. If you can get x4 v3.0 lanes from one of your PCIE slots then it won't be limited. If you have to use a x2/x4 v2.0 slot then yeah I think it will be.
I'm also tempted to buy one of those HBAs and a smaller PCIE M.2 drive to play with in my Gigabyte z77x board.

950 Pro is NVMe so you won't be able to boot off it in a z77 board without a bios mod.
If you put it in one of the PCIe x16 slots, it will run at full speed, but your GPU will be down to x8 rather than x16 (which should not make a difference)
If you are or ever want to go Crossfire or SLI, then you will have to put the SSD in a PCIe 2.0 slot, and will loose speed.

It should do. I would buy the SM951 AHCI instead though as it's a fair bit cheaper and shouldn't have any issues with Z77.

These should work fine. The adapter and the M.2 SSD. Put the SSD into the adapter then the adapter into a PCI-E slot.

Yup that adapter will be fine. The 950 is slightly faster but i don't think it'll work with your board as NVMe is not supported on Z77.

Your motherboard has all the hardware to support it although i'm not sure if your BIOS will support it. I would open a support ticket with EVGA and ask them, i did have a search around but couldn't find any concrete answers.
