Hi all, so sorry for the basic question but is a M.2 hard drive the same as a NVME drive & would it give me a performance boost over SATA ?

Also is it better to have the operating system on a separate drive ?

A m.2 sata ssd won't be any quicker than a normal sata ssd and a nvme is not really going to be quicker for general computing and gaming which is what i will be using mine for so i might as well go for a standard SSD
As I understand it, which is about as much as you from reading that article, NVMe will be slightly faster than SATA in gaming and that's it... but outside of games, your PC will boot up and generally process stuff way faster.

youtube videos showing sata vs nvme side by side show hardly any difference. im guessing using the nvme for multiple vms would see a serious hike in speed.
