M.2 to WiFi card is it a thing

Why not just grab a USB WiFi 6 dongle, theres plenty available, probably with better antenna's than your card has, so better signal.

Because USB isn't as reliable a interface (compared to PCI-E used by M.2 A/E wifi cards) for reliable networking (due to things like power saving and higher overheads being problematic).

USB also has both power limits (typically 4.5W for USB3.0) and heat restrictions due to the form factor of most USB Wifi Dongles.

What case and riser do you have?

A picture of the rear of the case might be useful

I'm assuming the card will probably actually fit in a PCI-E slot if you removed the metal bracket?
Looks to be the Cablemod bracket that has openings for the GPU only.

On the mini wifi card, how do you attach the aerials as it looks like it has small push fit connectors and all the aerials i have seen come with the larger screw in connectors.

@WARburton Can you not use power line plugs?

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £48.98 (includes delivery: £3.99)

do they bring any problems to the table or is it just plug and play smoothness

i do have separate circuit's for upstairs and down
There is still a chance it will work.

1. They only work if both ends are on the same circuit.

For most homes this won’t be a problem, however if your home has more than one circuit due to an extension or any other reason, then you may have problems. In my time, I have not seen this issue occur regularly, but normally they don't work for out buildings, garden offices or in large properties with Three Phase systems.

It should also be noted domestic electrical standards and practices differ from country to country. For example in the USA Powerline is likely to be less effective than it would be in the UK.

Could try them and return if they don't work.
