M.Atrix or S.Arc?

That's the deal I was originally eyeing up Jimlad when starting this thread. Ordered over the weekend and got the phone today (yesterday now :D).

Not had much of a play around yet but seems great so far and trying to get to grips with the array of apps/utilities. I thought there was a decent amount on my (unreliable) Nokia 5800 but I literally don't know where to start with Android :)
Fun days ahead I guess.

Apologies for the thread bump but I am currently on the fence between an atrix and an arc S phone.. not sure what would better suit me for webrowsing/gaming/camera snapps.. I am leaning towards the ArcS. But the battery and dual core of the atrix makes me wonder if its worth it.. hmmm

One thing for sure is the camera on the Atrix is diabolical for snaps BUT videos come out pretty decent.

Browsing is good too. No idea how the Atrix compares to the Arc though. Best to try and go to a T-mobile/Orange shop to play around for a little bit.

I am currently using CM7 on my Atrix and browsing is a pleasure now no lag at all even with full flash using Opera Mobile what i use on all phones, I would certainly put it up there with the GS2 for browsing now.

The stock rom is pretty crap unless you love all the Moto Blur stuff, the browser is laggy and the phone isn't 100% smooth, might be different when they finally put GingerBread on it, I noticed when I looked on CM7 it says its on 2.3.7 version of Android if that makes sense, also the phone is fast and snappy now with no lag.

I like the screen on the atrix as its only 4" and is qHD so has a high ppi count everything looks sharp on it and is pretty decent in sunlight.

Not tried the camera yet tbh will take some snaps later on, the video is ok but not the best from the brief trials I have had of it, if video and camera are very important to you I wouldn't take this phone as you will be disappointed, am sure the Arc does a much better job with its superior camera on.

Im in the same boat atm and concluded the Atrix is the phone for me (Don't forget to check the samsung galaxy W) simply because

ARC
pros: good screen quality, good camera
cons: 1GHz single core (1.4GHz single core on 's' isn't impressing me either), Don't like the width of screen, it's sony (last sony phone fell to bits)

Atrix
pros: Tegra 2 (nvidia gaming zone looks hopeful), dual core, webtop will be useful, finger print scanner is a nice novelty, qHD (is arc qHD?)
cons: Blur, locked to orange(current network but a negative for some)/T-mobile

galaxy W
pros: cheaper and cut down version of S-ii but still a good performer
cons: can't get a good enough deal on it compared to the atrix

HTC Sensation
pros: HTC are a solid manufacturer, very good phone
cons: I hate Sense. It bores me and is becoming bloated.

Blackberry torch/bold 9900 (currently using bold 9700)
pros: I like keyboard phones, BBM is pretty good (if I had friends with it)
cons: Missing HDMI out, lack of decent apps, no front facing camera, no guarantee on QNX coming to current devices, overpriced, Doesn't play nice with google calenders for me, Problems connecting to app world and receiving emails at times.

Nokia Lumia:
pros: free sat nav, epic looking phone, music service sounds great, fondness of Nokia
cons: No HDMI out, no front facing camera (from memory)
other: Windows phone 7 (doesnt annoy me, but may annoy others)

Galaxy S-II
pros: you actually have to ask?
cons: its too expensive for me =( ..........(tho i might go for it anyway)

Arc will definitely get ICS is that matters to you.

Any news on Atrix getting it? I thought it only very recently got Gingerbread.

I was under the impression that all gingerbread/honeycomb devices would get ICS. With Motorola being so intertwined with google now, I would also expect it to be one of the early ones to get it too.

Newest phones and tablets first seems fair. As long as the skin formerly known as blur undergoes another improvement I'd be happy to wait.

Well the crucial thing to note is that they aren't promising anything. If you want to wait till February only to find out they won't be giving ICS, its up to you. Also Gingerbread took 10 months to appear even after they said they'd give it. Atrix in the UK is also always lagging behind the US Atrix 4G as well. Just ask current Atrix users.

So it doesnt actually have Gingerbread yet in the UK.
