M1/135

Up at this sort of money I think I'd be in a 997 with Porsche warranty. Or Cayman S if you don't need back seats and want to save some cash.

1M - Not sure it's worth the money imo. It was fashionable on release, but will people remain in love with it? With the 1 series coupe due to change, will this be seen as the fast 1 series that even BMW didn't consider to be a true M.

135 - A lot of money to spend on a 1 series, albeit one with a very good engine.

M3 with DCT - Not sure what your thoughts are having just had your old one nicked. Much more of a car than the 1 series (although I'm probably biased), but the same can be said when comparing an M5 to an M3.

997 S - For the amount of money you're looking to spend I would seriously consider one. The 991 will help with their availability and also lower the 997's second hand value.

All of these above choices with be the older platform soon though, typical of buying a three year old car.

The C63 needs to have the Performance and Drivers packs to make it a proper contender to the E92. I drove one without the packs last week and whilst the interior is a lovely place to the and the noise is insane, it is quite lacking on the road. Nice auto gearbox though.

I've been considering a 135i recently as well (my jumping through jobs atm isn't helping convince me at the moment, but I seem to be safe enough to cover it now) and my way of thinking it was that you were getting 80% of the 1M for 50% of the costs. I wouldn't be aiming at the same price segment as you though, I was more down to 2-3 years old with nav. I considered the 335i as well, they seem to be more spacious and have nicer interiors, but someone else I know just got one and that'd be weird, right? :P

That GT-R is fantastic, they obviously depreciate like rocks.

given your review, I'd get the 1M purely because I like cars which look different, however if I had to wear a sensible hat it would be supremely easy to justify the 135 given the limited performance difference the two :(

This would be my feeling. The 1M is a nice car but there is a lot better on the market for 32k

I just wouldn't buy one in the horrible burnt orange colour :o

Its not too bad in really life.

You could go crazy and spend a little more

But between this and the M1 I know where my money would go

They will probable not deprecate as fast as the M1 will.

I like those Mercedes convertibles. (the ones people refer to as hairdresser cars).

If only I had the cash. :p

1M purely for the looks :)

i dont think i've ever seen a factory fresh car that looks so spot on. I wouldnt change a thing on it, its perfect :) the fact its rapid is also an added bonus

The M1 is so much more than a 135i with a remap. Much like a M3 is so much more than a remapped 335i..

Sod the price difference, go all out. Aren't there only 200 coming to the UK anyway?

Sorry for rezzing a dead thread; I believe the original number was 400 or 450, however BMW realised how popular it was and have simply said they will produce as many as they can until they end the production run (at the end of Q1 2012, I don't know if that's fiscal or calendar though).
