I am interested in purchasing the Samsung 950 Pro 256GB M.2 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe Solid State Drive but my motherboard doesn't have an M2 slot on it.

Can I use this M2 drive with a PCIe adapter card? If this is possible does OCUK sell one that I can purchase at the same time as the drive?

My motherboard has one PCIe 2.0 x4 and one PCIe 3.0 x8 slot.

Thanks!

Ps. you wont wanna go back after using nvme drives! especially if you plan to use it as a boot drive.

Just make sure your existing motherboard supports booting from nvme (may need a bios update).

I've just ordered one of those ASUS HyperX M2 adapter cards for my build. I read that they allow lossless performance and is the exact same as using an actual M.2 slot. I'm looking forward to receiving it. :)

Finding out if your motherboard supports booting from the card could be tricky. Mine as far as I can see does not even though I got the more backwards-compatible AHCI version.
