M4 Vs Corsair

No replies from the sub forum... I knew I shouldn't have bothered.

Both will probably act similar then, they seem to use the sandforce controller (a popular choice) and seem to have similar speeds. Check reviews, check prices, check warranties and if nothing else go for your fav. company.

I can't comment on either, I can say I vouch for the OCZ variant but that's not on your list.

People with The Force 3 will say it's great, people with M4 will say it's great.

There's only been one major issue with the Force 3 and that was it not waking up after sleep, that's been fixed for some time now. Mine has over 1100 hours of power on time and in that time has not skipped a beat. A friend of mine has the same drive but for a month longer than me and his is fine too.

Both fine drives of course but for me the extra price of the M4 didn't justify the very small performance increase (where there was one anyway).

By the time I need a few more GBs on my SSD, 250+ GB drives will be much much cheaper anyway.

The most reliable drive on the market is the M4 and prices are set to increase.

If you want to buy one then now is the time.

As for the Force 3, the price should remain constant for a while yet.

Both are good drives and are now both very reliable. I personally however would go with the Crucial as out of the two return rates are much lower.

Cheers guys!

Crucial it is. I had one last week to play with for a day or two. Only had it hooked up to a sata 2 board however. Never bothered to check firmware on it either so not sure if it was the latest. It was a recent order though.

It was pretty quick! So if it's the more reliable. I'll settle for that I suppose. Can't be doing with troubleshooting and RMA's these days.

Thanks again.

What`s your opinion on the new corsair ssd and how does it compare to the 2 mentioned by the OP.

Aside from the notable "5200 hour timebomb" with the M4, which I'm sure will be fixed with firmware before many hit that mark, they should be as good as each other.

I personally have a 128GB M4 and I'm over the moon with it, runs fine, fast, and quiet. Take whatever you can get as a good deal, and job's a good-un.

Why are the prices increasing? Need more space as my 128gb M4 is full and was saving for a 256gb but might just get another 128 and go raid0 if they are going up a lot..

Prices are set to rise further? Really want a 256GB because a 128 will fill up in no time :( Is the 5200H breakdown occuring consistently to people or isolated to a few occurances?

currently deciding on this too for my main pc to get rid of a velociraptor, the force 3 is 15£ cheaper and hits the 1£/gb but everyone loves the m4,
