Mac Book/Mac Book Pro/Mac Pro!!!

But then I'll lose all my settings, etc won't I?

The point I was making I guess is that if I buy a MBP now, get familiarised with it to the point where I've customised it to behave how I want, installed apps I want to use etc, if I do a zero-wipe then I'm back to square one again.

I guess my argument was whether it was worth waiting for Leopard so I only have to go through this "ground up customisation and familiarisation" once.
What you need to do if you want to keep your settings, but not your personal stuff is to use target FireWire mode when you set up your Mac.

Obviously this would include owning 2 Macs to transfer the data, hence why I didn't suggest it :(

Well I've been!

And still are no closer to deciding.

I'd have a Mac Book Pro, in an INSTANT! If it wasn't for the lack of a 200Gb 7200RPM drive in apples hard disk selection.

Get:

Mac Book Pro 17 Inch
1920x1200
160Gb 7200
2Gb
C2D 2.4ghz

for £1660.

Which is EXTREMELY tempting!

But then at uni, its gonna get nicked! :(

As a photographer a MBP would be a bloody good idea.

Actually thinking currently:

Mac Book Pro with:

160gb Internal - 160Gb Portable External 2.5inch.
Those two Backup onto a 500Gb NAS every night.
Then onto a 500Gb External Firewire drive every week.

Think that would work!

:(

It's basically what I do.. except I use 1 External drive, and I have the 4GB, HD Res, 7200rpm HD option :)

ha ha I plan on going to the apple store again and doing some "bargaining".

See if I can get a carry case for it aswell ;)
Don't do that.. buy from me ;);)

They will be the same price, however, expect it to come with a few bugs.. so I'd buy now and just upgrade (whats £58?) in a few months when it's stable.

I'm betting Leopard will be out 26th October (last Friday of the month), however, the actual date hasn't been announced.

I've had 10.1, 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4 from the day of release.

Solid as a rock every time.

So I think waiting is a good idea. Im probably going to do the same. Save more money then aswell ha ha!

I suppose on the flipside of my suggestion (and your experience) is that I won't have any grumbles with buying a shiny new iMac when Leopard is released then :D

(If it's going to be stable *was thinking of Windows tbh :o )
