Mac users' elitism

When you say 'prefer the PC' you mean Windows of course, seeing as Macs are PCs now, to all intents and purposes :) Not to mention that PCs also run Linux and BSD etc. FWIW yes, I do prefer Windows XP to Mac OS X.

no I don't because I'm not using a new Mac :) And I started using Macs when they had a GUI and PC's were still running DOS.

That's because they have never used Windows :p
There is a lot of truth in that, going by Mac forums I have visited. A lot of the Mac zealots haven't used Windows since 95/98 and think things haven't moved on.

yes it does - you said it takes a week to learn how to use it. I read it that you were saying that it was harder to learn than a PC. But people have to learn how to use PC's too, it's not just something they can do naturally when they're born.

I've edited the post anyway to make more sense :)

I take it as a given that everyone has a PC running windows and has used it for a pretty long time and is pretty coherent with it.

So anyone using a mac for a first time will be even more confused since they're used to the windows way of doing things, so will find it a lot harder how to use OS X than someone who's never used a PC and will be underwhelmed because they don't know how to do everything they do on their PC the first time they use a mac, and won't know all the little OS X tricks that make it great, so will just dismiss it.

5% is not many, many Americans really. :)

again....did I say it was? You're making up an argument I'm not having with you here :p

And as for Mac users not using Windows - all the Mac users I know have gone from Windows to Mac because they prefer it - anyone who doesn't try them both is a bit daft imo.

Im a mac fanboy because:

- It works every single god dam time I turn it on, not one problem over 4 years and 4 months.
- No faffing around with huge amounts updates and drivers
- Anti-virus etc stuff, no need

PCs will always be annoying because of the constant updates, virii, adware, spyware, drivers, software conflicts. I've never had to go fix a mac, while i've fixed over 30 PCs....

Apple is better because its one set of software for one set of hardware, and unless PCs go along the same route then Apple will always win. No argument, the range of PC hardware causes problems, that's it. :) some windows people just can't accept it...

Yes I am a Mac Fan boy, because I have reasons to be. :D

(Oh and for your info I have a Conroe Rig and a 4 year old PowerMac G4...) :D

What rubbish, go on insanelymac.com and run a poll and see how many people have never used windows, I bet you the only ones who do have been using apples since their release, which will be a tiny tiny % of mac users now days.

tbh I think the sensible people use and benefit from both. That's what I do :D

If I had to choose one, I'd choose the Mac though. Never let me down in approx 8 years and has been upgraded throughout so it's just as quick as my PC :D. Been through 2 desktops and 2 laptops in that time!

Yes you did :) You said many, many Americans use Apple Macs and that is untrue.

OK, so now we have to define many. Of the nearly 300 million people in the states, I'd say you'd think that 5% of them was quite a lot of people if they were crammed into your living room :D\

Many Americans do use Apple Macs. That's a fact. Whether it's a large proportion of the total number of Americans is a totally different matter.

If Macs are so good and Windows PCs are so bad... why do Macs only have a minute share of the market? Funny that.
