Hi Guys,

I dont know why people with Macs (laptops or mini's) think there better than the moon? Youve all seen the youtube videos, and now theres some neat ones why Windows is much better than Mac (Recording Tv, Games, Many More)

All the videos ive seen There all been that the Mac has, No virus , Crashes , Software Errors, Iphoto , Imovie Etc. This is all you hear , "I can make a video in seconds but in windows its takes me hours ! " "My pc just would'nt work" Well i say ********. There people whom cannot be arsed or have the brain cells to find out the error. (read down)

A Mac is made for people whom cannot be arsed to do **** all or there too dumb to find out how to work something. Windows movie maker you can make a video in matter of minutes, Its easy to use and had enough features.

Now i agree that Macs are very good at Video editing / Photo and designing but i disagree but using them for everyday usage. There have a general good hardware spec now Intel has stepped in and gave them a big hand. But what you can do on a Mac is very limited compared to all the amazing software and hardware configs on the Computer market.

Also id like to add that Mr Steve Jobs cleary said that the Mac does not crash! totally will not crash. Well what happened? most of the Mac laptops you see will either freeze on the log on screen and you get that silly little X appear. Windows you will get the blue screen of death (still not good.. But You can find out the error and correct, Or you will get a little message appear saying some software issue. But if youve done all that then cleary hardware issue)

Which on Computer you can get a warranty replacement without the risk of your lovely mac getting lost in the post and never seeing it ever again.

Ive worked on a Mac for around 2-3 Months before i couldnt work with it anymore. For everyday usage its not correct and it doesnt make me feel happy when using it.

Now i have a very nice rig (see Sig) and Windows vista blows on Macs interface ( Oh right , Windows copied mac) < n00bs

Well, theres my argument. Feel free to view your thoughts like mine, Im sure there is a good region of mac users whom want it as something different and maybe doesnt want to be Cool because you have a white apple logo inside your laptop bag.

Fully star your swearing.

I use both, but prefer Windows Explorer seems much more advanced then Finder.
 
very true, the only reason i like macs is because of the light colors of the themes, and the look of the laptop its self!
but the os sucks, i rather have a windows pc over any os :)
 
Macs are great. Window is cool too. So's Linux. I like Macs the best.

So I use Macs.

At work, I use Macs because they're the prevailing platform in my industry (printing).

That's not true. Chill out. I use a mac at home because I like the OS. That's it. I'm proficient with windows machines, I can build and use them just fine. But these days I prefer Mac OS. I don't want to have to delve around and fix stuff, I like how it just works.

I'll tell you what IS crap about Macs, though.

Fonts.

Considering Macs are largely used for design and so on, their font handling is poor. Properly rubbish. Bane of my working life. I SHOULDN'T NEED SUITCASE

I used a PC up until May this year, I never had any major problem with Windows (haven't seen the BSOD for years!). But I decided to get a Macbook Pro, I now only use the pc just check various bits and bobs and use programs which don't run on OSX.
I use the Mac for everything now.

Now, don't be such a idiot - If you don't like Mac's thats fine, but don't go ranting for no reason. Some people like OSX some people like Windows, what does it really matter?

You don't, just makes life easier, and doesn't slow your mac down as much as loading 100,000 fonts on Boot.

You can get suitcase for windows too.

I need to use suitcase - our fonts are properly spackered.
The people there before us properly borked it all up, and we can't really start again - we have to struggle along in their mess.
Macs deffo need Suitcase more than Windows machines do. Mac OS has serious beef with using lots of fonts. Especially our 5 billion helveticas
 
Firstly, please calm down and do away with the swearing, or at least star it out properly.

As for the rest, horses for courses. They all have their benefits and drawbacks - PC vs Mac, Windows vs Linux, and so on. Yes, Macs are easier to use and better-integrated software-wise, and PCs are more flexible and have more software. I happen to like to dip into them all - which is why I have a Mac, a Windows PC, and a Linux PC, and I know how to use all of them. :)
 
My hole point is , Why is there people on youtube etc saying the Mac is better?

I mean them people must be fooled by them videos

I have a mac, and am a linux sysadmin by trade. means i know my way around a command line - macs DO give out error information and stuff if you know where to look.

I can record TV on my mac, play games on my mac etc etc so its a silly comparison no matter what you do. People just bash macs / windows cause its either 1) the "done" thing or 2) they really don't have anything better to do when the rest of us just... don't care and get on with our lives.

So, if one of your mac programs crashed (yes, it does happen) - where would you look for the error message? Cause as a super intelligent windows user you should know in a snap.

Technically, way back when, Windows 95 did "borrow" a lot of ideas from other operating systems. And personally I find aero to be fussy, the first thing I did with my vista install on boot camp was disable the stupid translucent stuff. Aqua is just... simple.

And yes you may have a nice rig, but the fact you pointed it out means you must have some kind of insecurity about it. I bet my macbook pro does all the things *I* want to do just as well as your desktop machine.

I chose a mac as my primary machine for a few simple reasons

1) I am a linux bod, been using it for aaaages and wanted something built on *nix
2) I wanted a commercially supported system without always having to rely on self compilation
3) I wanted a nice, consistent UI (KDE apps on gnome, ew)
4) I didn't want to become tied in with these horrible auto patching, activationing, DRM installing, big brothering way that Microsoft appear to be going
and the final one
5) I felt like I should at least try a mac rather than jump on the bandwagon of haters.

And ya know, I could easily have another windows machine, and I could easily have another mac, or another linux machine (especially now xgl is so lovely). Everyone is going to defend or recommend something that works personally for them, but to say we "think we're better than the moon" is just being a little... childish?

They're obviously not saying it just off the back of the videos.

They're saying it because they thinks Macs are better.

I think Macs are better too, I just don't post on Youtube about it. You may think otherwise, and that's fine. I'm 23 years old, I can just get on with doing what makes me happy, and let others do the same. You'll grow into it, don't worry :)
 
Windows = Games/MSN
Macs = Media work
Linux = Security OS

Thats my point of view anyway, i like all three of em

I use both PC and Mac daily, I prefer the Mac because the OS is a hell of a lot more streamlined and logically laid out. The general quality of freeware/shareware applications also seems higher.

I think people just embarrass themselves when they trot out all the generic insults against Macs. It points to having little knowledge or experience and just parroting stuff you've heard/read over the years.

Why does everyone have an opinion on the Mac as a computer?

I was going to get a Macbook Pro for uni but went with the Sony Vaio FZ11Z with blu-ray instead and I'm not dissapointed. It's a fantastic laptop. Really fast, never crashes and it's really nice to use. I'm sick with the whole Apple fan thing. Yes, the interface is nice and everything but tbh you can do **** all on it without bootcamp!
