Yes, 1 power cable coming out of the back of my iMac. That is all it needs to get it working 100%. There are no other needed.

And do you not think the very fact that they can afford to do that would suggest just how grossly overpriced they were to begin with?

Do you not think, you pay for CS and as such it isn't over priced.
Again this is no different to many of us buying logitech peripherals, because the CS is so good, despite them costing a bomb.

90% of the Apple setups i've seen on this forum could very easily house a Windows system VERY tidily. Are you saying people will pay 100s extra just so they can have 1 cable coming out of the monitor?
I've got a £15 Logitech keyboard and a £30 Logitech mouse and I love them <3
The thing I dislike about Mac is there's not as many applications/features as Windows. Some stuff I use on Windows 7 is just non-existent on Mac. For example search for "mac bass redirection" and you get nothing even related to bass redirection, just forumers asking about bass boosting.
Another reason is the comparatively **** price : performance ratio.
I'd rather have a Porsche Turbo than a Rolls Royce Phantom. Even though the RR is more comfortable, luxurious and more expensive, the Porsche is faster and more fun.

No, but are you putting a price of aesthetics? There are no price for aesthetics, as there are no price for design.
Forget and hardware and software, this is where the die hard windows fan will always argue, from that angle, that you get more bang for bucks. Well, this is where i am telling you.
What if I say I don't care for bang for buck, I want a pretty looking machine that is tidy? Bite me
That is where a lot of Mac user comes from, they like it because it is pretty, they don't know about OSX. They don't know about Viruses. They don't price compare the same spec machine to one from Toshiba or Acer.
They see it. They like the look of it. They know they can afford it.
They buy it.
People are thinking too hard on why the majority buy Macs.
Me? I want an all in one machine. Silent. and a MASSIVE IPS screen.

A tower can be placed under a desk nicely and still look minimalist and badass, like my PC. Oh it would be immense in performance too, just like my PC
Also, maybe you could have saved some ££ and bought a bigger desk
Truth be told you can do everything you mentioned above on a PC but you just have to do some research and buy stuff that can be configured that way.
There is no if you can afford it then why not malarkey here, most high end PC users on this forum have spent way more on a PC setup than any Apple user has on Apple products.
Sure it might come to a similar price in the end or the price difference might be an amount that one could say "well Apple have done what I need out of the box so the extra premium was worth that" but the flipside is that enthusiast PC owning is hands on and fun at the same time, it's something you've built and maintained yourself and it looks/runs amazing at the same time.

Not really, its called running a profitable business by keeping costs down and profit margins high. If people are willing to pay it, it seems they have got the pricing just right.
People seem to forget about the millions of dollars ploughed into R&D and marketing each year to ensure the products are innovative and people want to buy them... plus the after sales care as others have already mentioned - this all contributes to the final product pricing.
Again, an all round package is what people go for when they buy a new Mac: e.g. new/different/powerful OS, well built aesthetically pleasing design, innovate implementation of technology, ease of use with other hardware/software across the eco system, strong brand and reputation, excellent customer service etc etc.
It's not like they cost a bizzilion pounds is it...?!

I have no time to faff around with a PC box. None.
I rather spend it taking pictures than sit in my room on the floor trying to squeeze out the last Mhz out of it before it give me the BSOD before I pull back the OC a little.
I used to do that. Then I got a mac.
The amount of time I have saved not thinking about upgrading (because I can't, a blessing in disguise!), upgrading firmware and drivers, applying security patches, buying Anti Virus Licence (I used to get NOD32) this and that.
Now I get into a cycle of new iMac every 2-3 years. Job done.
Bottomline is that my life has moved on caring about the PC box. I want the machine to serve me, I don't want to serve it.

Plenty of custom built PCs look nicer and have tidier interiors than Apple Macs do, plus much better quality components such as Asus RoG motherboards, MSI Twinfrozr graphics card, some Corsair / G Skill ram modules, and a high efficiency top reliability PSU from Corsair, Seasonic or whoever else.
Whereas the components inside a mac are the cheapest, lowest quality, messy and ugly horsecrap taken straight from Foxconn for as little cost as possible, while being charged excessively more than you can setup a high end quality component PC for.

What always amazes me is Mac users are "Meh, paid my money made my choice" peacefully getting on with life, whereas the PC users are always "ZOMG LOOK AT HOW STUPIDZ THE MAC USERS ARE. SPECIAL NEEDS PCS. OVERPRICED. LULZ LULZ DEY IS FICK".
My personal opinion is Macs for Laptops and PCs for Desktops.
As such I have:
I would admit however that my Mac laptops do each have a Windows 7 VM on... and actually Visual Studio on the MacBook Air's VM isn't too shabby - faster than the Lab PCs at Uni! (I imagine the SSD gives it a nice helping hand).

My personal opinion is Macs for Laptops and PCs for Desktops
.As such I have:
- Self-built overclocked desktop PC for gaming and desktop PC things, running Windows 7.
- MacBook Pro 15"
- MacBook Air 13"
- Some old Dell Latitude Laptop that I use in the garage on Dad's race car and anything else that needs a serial port.

Everyone moves on in different ways though, yes, my life has too but getting older isn't going to make me lazier, no sir, I was born hands on and will die hands on, if shooting images requires more time, I will make more time for them by adapting.

But you got to priorities and eventually, caring about that piece of metal box would be a chore and not fun and wonder why you bothered!
Let me give you an example in my life the last 3 days.
Saturday I woke up and got the 9am train to London for 2 client meetings for weddings in 2012. Got home at 9pm.
Sunday I woke up and lost my voice! But still went to that shoot with the girls, spend the night editing.
Monday (today) - I woke up aching all over and coughing badly so I didn't go to work, stayed at home. Ended up editing and this evening I sat on the floor sorting out the receipts, bank statements and spreadsheets for my taxes.
I don't have time to spend it fiddle with the PC. That thing really should serve me. Period. Not the other way round.
