Might be different for store bought ones as you'll have an Applecare box and such, mine was just the general manual and CD. Check your serial :)

BeatMaster :D
Yup, mine's in a box with all the serial numbers on. Has nothing other than register code which can be used on any macbook/ibook :)

The "black tax" is still there, but it's been reduced quite a bit.. :)
Down to £20 :)

Unless, of course, you don't want the 120Gb HDD :p

These updates make the base model far less appealing to all but those who don't want/need a DVD burner.

Count yourselves lucky they did it BEFORE Christmas.

I remember being shafted when they brought out the new iMac 2 weeks after I bought it, and couldn't return it

It's hardly being shafted. If you choose to buy something then you've made the decision that the specifications are worth the money and that its suitable for your needs. The fact that a step-up is offered at times is just a good will gesture - they're under no obligation. :o

This is why I didn't buy a MacBook when it first came out, well...also apart from Money restrictictions :p - because apple always do this.

God Dammit I hate apple :p

/hugs Apple.

:D

I've been checking up on stuff and it actually works out cheaper to sell my MacBook (White, 2Ghz, 1GB & 100GB HD) add the extra and buy a brand new MacBook C2D (White, 2GHz, 2GB, & 160GB HD) than it is to buy the 2GB Ram &
160GB HD and upgrade it myself.

Tempting!!!

surely it depends on how much you sell it for?

I notice Apples prices on extra RAM are pretty reasonable now. So it's good that you no longer have to buy (say 2GB) elsewhere and have the hassle of trying to get rid of the stock RAM.

Looking on the bay i would expect to get around the £800 mark for mine. so i would need to add around £300 to it. If i bought 160GB Hard drive and 2GB ram it would cost around £350 to upgrade and I would still be lacking Core 2 Duo and the Dual Layer Superdrive, also Lets not forget it would still be classed as the "old MacBook" as well.

My advice is sell now, before Christmas.

If you wait then a lot of people will either have the new one, or the demand will drop.. (or both!!) and you'll be gutted.

...you know you want to ;)

Been interested in a MB since I saw them on the Apple UK site. Was kind of love at first sight although my wallet did threaten to leave me.;)

I decided to wait until the MBs came with the C2D but now it seems as though waiting for Leopard would also be a good idea.

The Apple UK site says Leopard is expected in the spring of next year. Any ideas on a rough date? I presume January is probably too early so I'm guessing February/March/April?

Apple usually go on the "it's done when it's done" schedule.

I would say early-mid February is the safest bet, as it will probably be announced at the next conference in January to give them time to take orders and get ready for release (a lá MacBook)... that's usually when they announce big things anyway.

If you're tempted to wait, I really would suggest to at least watch the conference to see if anything gets announced, then take the plunge or wait.. depends on the outcome at the end of the day.
