Righto, thanks guys.

I was looking at that list earlier, it's one of the reasons i asked the questions above :p

Unfortunately only one of the new MBP 17" 2.33 with 100GB 7,200RPM HDD on there so just wanted to see if anyone else had problems...

Have also been on AppleDefects.com and thats worrying me too...

Edit - i forgot battery expanding!

Apple has one of the best returns/warranty/policies - any problems with the machine, it will be sorted :)

Ok, ok, i get it - you've persuaded me :p

Have any of you guys got the 100GB 7,200RPM hard disk in your MBP? Main reason i ask is because some people mentioned that the only people having overheating problems are those with the faster hard disk drive...i see above one of your has a 120GB version and no problems, anyone else with the 100GB?

I've got a friend who has the 7200 drive and there's no noticeable difference in my opinion as regards to speed. It doesn't seem to run hotter - but I've only played around with it for 5 minutes, not given it the full do-over with multiple apps etc.

It should be fine but if you can, get in to an Apple Store - there machines will have been running since they were put on display - they are only turned off for a reboot every once in a while.

Fell in love with the 15" MBP at an Apple store today, talked to a guy for a while about discounts and as i work for the NHS i can apparently get 6% off.

I didn't want to buy straight away so asked if i can get the discount through the website, he went off and asked (really nice guy btw), and he said if i order on the Apple site through the NHS network i should be able to get the discount. Got home, had a go through VPN on work laptop (so basically in the office), went through to the Apple site - no difference in price. Tried registering and selecting "Local government" during registration - checked prices, no difference.

Anyone ever bought on the site through an NHS connection? Is there a dedicated URL like the University one i should be using?

Would it make more sense for me to order through my sister who is in higher education and get a higher discount - i think i read in the FAQ that the £1699 version is £1444 - is that true?

Excited :D Its sooo sleek

You get the NHS discounts via the website - http://www.nhsdiscounts.com. It's the same amount of discount as you get for "normal" education - around 6-7%. Higher Education gets the highest discount of the lot (around 11%). You can only access the HE website from the University network most of which are on SuperJANET.

Oooh, thanks for that. Never been to that site before, i know one of my colleagues is looking at getting an iMac so that should save him a fair bit aswell.

Going to get my sister to visit the University Apple site on Monday and see how much cheaper the discounts are (looks like roughly 8% on MBP's through the NHSDiscount site), but will most likely wait for Leopard and (hopefully) LED backlit displays - so plenty of time!
