MacBook questions

UPS are a pain.
Mine was sat in a depo from friday night until monday :( the depo is only around the corner, this is because they have to atleast attempt to deliver it once.
 
I've found UPS to be outstanding, it's City Link who've been the worst for me.
 
I think if I had access to explosives i'd have blown their HQ up by now.

After all the comotion yesterday I rang this morning (another 20 min wait) to confirm that it was indeed getting shipped to work.

Got through to Mohammed and he said it was going to my home address, and they had no log of the 2 calls I made yesterday, or the original change to the order saying it was to be sent to my work.

He also said he couldn't get hold of the driver (even though the 2 guys I spoke to yesterday said it was possible).

So I had to explain this to my boss who wasn't too happy but agreed I could work from home. I had to run 3 miles home just in case the driver was coming this morning. Luckily he hasn't been yet, but I can't work from home as my PC won't boot, and this laptop dosen't have Photoshop/Dreamweaver etc on (only a 1.2ghz / 256mb anyway).

Absolutely livid, and i'l be putting a complaint in.

Mate, get an AirPort Express and run your sound through your system wirelessly (like I do) :)

Also, take your complaint allll the way. That's the only way to stop it happening again.
 
Is there any way of being able to leave the MacBook on say overnight to download?

I'm having a right hard time trying to download anything over say 10MB as it just goes to sleep which pauses the download!

I've tried adding the external monitor, mouse and keyboard and waking it but it still goes to sleep after a certain time (don't want to use all the external stuff for the time being anyway).

Am I going to be disappointed, or am I just missing something totally obvious?v:o

Yep, use InsomniaX, can download with the lid closed etc. :)
 
Yeah heard of that through people on here but i'm sure they said it wasn't compatible with Leopard? Any ideas? :)

Also i've noticed I have 1 dead pixel to the top right of the screen. Will Apple replace the unit? To be honest i'm not sure if I can be bothered to sort it out due to the performance with the original delivery, and it's not exactly obvious. The only reason i'm debating whether to do something about it is because I guess it'l affect the resale value a fair bit.

Must say on the whole though i'm impressed with the build quality, I thought the slider thing on the power supply was a very nice touch.
 
I'm pretty sure they would replace it, ring them and see, they're very helpful :)

Ahh, InsomniaX might not be compatible, try it and see if it works.
