machete killer who butchered 400 people in his homeland can stay in UK on benefits

We are a joke as a nation. Why do you think Abu hamza and co cone here? Its not for the weather or the cricket.

Its because our leaders have no balls. Of course he should be deported. I'd ask how or why he was even able to come here? Grounds for asylum should not include ' I killed 400 people'.

We should have as stringent laws as Australia. Unless you have a guaranteed job with references and cash in the bank, you don't get into the country. If you're foreign you get detained at the airport. If its a temp visit you have to prove as such and will be forced to leave afterwards.

They seem to be able to influence their own policy no problem

Which makes it somewhat a subjective rather than objective position. The economic hardship on leaving the EU may be seen as worth it if you value the increase in sovereignty for example.

I agree to an extent. But I'd also argue that political parties should (often don't) act dispassionately, with as little subjectivity as possible, in running the country as well as possible.

You and I can discuss the EU between us subjectively. As we move up scales to the political parties discussing the EU between them, there is not room for whimful decision making, such as "we have to leave the EU, as they're making us house a machete butcher".

Obviously parties are subjective to a degree in terms of their leanings. However, once voted in they should not be the subject of drastic shifts in policy purely on a knee-jerk reaction.

you know those people who die in police custody and the only thing that comes from it is an officer is given some informal "advice".

I can't help but think.this would be a time that wouldn't be a problem

If you mean use a party as a protest vote then yes. who doesn't

I'd rather hope most people vote for a party that vaguely represents their beliefs. If you're choosing to do otherwise then you're pinning your hopes on the people you're trying to send a message to interpreting your actions correctly - I'd not be certain that they'd show enough discrimination to tell the difference between a "protest" vote and just an "ordinary" vote for the BNP.

I've got to admit I've not seen a box for you to fill in your reasoning for voting at the bottom of the slip - but maybe there was a tick box option missing? Did you vote for this party because a) you believe in their policies? b) like the leaders hairstyle? c) just like putting crosses in boxes? d) you're not sure what you're doing here? e) it's a protest vote? f) none of the above?

I don't want to live in this city anymore..

The way you've phrased that suggests that there was a time when you did want to live there...?

I concur.

People here are stupid! Whipping up a frenzy against the EU, yet they mention the human rights act in the same sentence, well news to you the human rights act, 1998 is UK Law not European

Human Rights Act Yes fact remains slaughtering 400 of his own. Another one we can't kick out on human rights African War Criminal Claimed to have wiped out entire villages.

That really is horrendous :/
This type of **** is allowed to live here off the tax system yet people that have paid into it for many years have trouble after losing work.
Utter disgrace tbqfh

a lot of people replying in this thread seem to have a misunderstanding of what is the problem with this and other case involving alleged (untried) criminals seeking asylum.

The government has an obligation to uphold Human Rights legislation.

They should do what they have done with Abu Qatarda, and seek the assurances of the ruling government of the state in question that the suspect is given a fair trial, and then deport them. It is unfortunate that the policy as it stands acts as a oneway door for some of the worst people on this planet to gain access to the UK....

ho hum

I say we have worse people because this guy is currently peaceful, not committing acts of violence or spreading hate.

I see what you are saying but it would take just 1 night of drinking/drug taking and he potentially could snap butcher men, women and children in the area. Most/all countries in the world will not accept visitors across their borders if they have been imprisoned or convicted of a violent crime, but we have let someone who has allegedly murdered hundreds of people in his own country into our country under the guise of asylum. And on top of that money is coming out of OUR pocket to feed, house and give him clothes to wear. This country, oh and this forum needs a facepalm smiley.
