Madeleine McCann cops ask Home Office for more money to continue search for missing child

I'd love for them to find Madeline McCann or the people who abducted her, but that money would be reasonably better spent at this time on front line Police in London

Search for which kids equally?

I mean that other kids who disappear today don't get this much money to find them, and statistically they are more likely to be found alive.

At this point they should be funding it themselves. They should have been funding it years ago. She disappeared in 2007, 11 years ago. This investigation is still getting more money than kids who have gone missing recently.

I know this might sound harsh to some, but where as all the money gone? We, the tax payer, have been giving the investigation money on the reason that there was new leads to follow. There hasn't been any new leads since early on in the investigation. Someone is making money, getting paid, for doing nothing. That is the sad part about this, that a little girls disappear is being exploited.

Just reading that link it seems they are getting an additional £150,000 every 6 months! This is sick stuff.

Kids & people that go missing due to a suspected crime are investigated, there’s crimes still being investigated years after they have found a body

If you put yourself in the McCanns position you would want all the help possible to locate your child , I don’t know how much they have personally put towards the costs of the investigation but I doubt many people would be able to afford the full true costs to fund it

Because it's horrifically immense.

Whilst the level of investigation for low risk and absent cases may be minimal, the majority of reports are deemed to be medium or high risk (as shown above), which require more concerted investigation and as a result use a significant amount of police resources. It is estimated that a medium risk, medium term missing person investigation costs between £1,325.44 - £2,415.80.z Based on 76% of all missing incidents in England and Wales being graded as medium risk (184,160), the financial cost of medium risk missing person investigations is in the range £244m to £445m per annum.

If the UK spent the amount they did on the very likely dead Madeleine, it would bankrupt us immediately.

It is OFFENSIVE to spend £300k a year on this when they only spend 1% of that at most on cases otherwise.

This money could be far better spent.

Unless I’m reading it wrong it looks as though They’re missing persons not victims of a crime which I think is the main difference in spending

Yes. But they are considered cold cases and aren't prioritized over active cases.

I'm sure all parents want there to be as much help as possible for 99% don't get it. What do you say to those people?

It would depend on the circumstances but I suspect most of those cases are adolescents that have ran away

Hard to believe this is still going on at this point....

It's done.

+1

Its sad to say but I can only see a few options :

1)Parents accidentally killed her and disposed of the body
2)She was abducted and then killed.
3)She was abducted and sold.
4)She was abducted and sex trafficked

I do not see any other road but the above.

My money is still on the top one.

This was not the conclusion of the police. If you have a problem with that, go and argue with them.
Clearly the McCanns are getting special treatment.

Because you can say with 100% confidence, if a council estate chav left her two-year daughter at home on their own, and said daughter died in some kind of accident, that the police/coroner would conclude neglect.

However the McCanns seem to have friends in high places.

The conclusion of all right-thinking people is that you bear some responsibility for any tragedy, when you leave 4-year-olds and younger home alone. It's just impossible to argue any other way.

You think they bear no responsibility, I take it? For anything? Convenient.
