Madeleine McCann's parents

Because it takes a mastermind to take a child, put it in a car and take it to bury it somewhere leaving insufficient evidence for a prosecution? History is full of cases demonstrating that it doesn't take a mastermind to commit manslaughter or murder and leave little or no evidence

Given what is known about the events for anyone to assert that they didn't do it is as foolish as asserting they did.

then they (or one of them) carried her body a short distance away, dumped her ( seas or elsewhere) body swept away.
No evidence of anything, then reported her missing.

It would be extraordinarily difficult to get away with this in a crowded tourist destination, particularly since they would need to dispose of the body between 19:00 (the last time Madeleine was confirmed alive) and 20:30 (the time Gerry and Kate arrived at the tappas bar).

That's one and a half hours to carry a dead child all the way down to the beach through crowded streets without anyone noticing, dump the body, wait until it was washed away, sneak back through the crowded streets without anyone noticing, and arrive at the tappas bar as if nothing had happened.

Someone did get away with Maddy, difficult or not, someone did. It happened, we don't know by who, or by how many, or if she was moved in more than one stage.
I am not trying to build a case, just saying that criminal mastermind doesn't enter into it.

And yet, somebody did exactly that.

Broke into a holiday apartment, knowing full well the parents where going to be away for X amount of time, steal child, kidnap/kill child and leave NO CLUES what so ever, nothing, then go on to sell, dispose of body and remain free, with various world wide authorities having absolutely no leads what so ever, after 9 years.

So which ever way you look at it, a criminal mastermind, by your own definition, was involved.

And yet, somebody did exactly that.

Somebody who knew the area and had most likely considered the manner in which they would carry out the act.

Not two tourists with little local knowledge and under extreme pressure having inadvertently killed their own child.

No, they didn't kill her.

They should carry the responsibility regardless.

Who leaves their young children unattended and unsupervised in a foreign holiday resort to go and party?

They have her death on their hands either way.

Exactly. Can you imagine how they would have been torn apart by the media if they were from your typical working-class background.

I'm still of the opinion that they're withholding information. I personally believe that they overdosed Maddie by mistake accidentally killing her in the process and had to deal with it rather than face the authorities for manslaughter. There are too many flags for me to no think this, why did she not answer even the most basic questions when questioned? Why did they try sue the cop who said that they were guilty? Why did they prevent so many publications getting released? And these are just the obvious ones. When you dig deeper in to the case, there are tons of little signs which don't tally up with the behaviour of parents who have lost a child, but rather parents who are trying very hard to stay one step ahead of the game. This whole investigation is littered with them. I've been interested in this case and reading loads about it for two years now, from blatant facts to lizard men, and I don't for one second believe that anyone other than the McCanns disposed of this poor child's body.

Their whole story stinks.

Indeed it does!

Lets just hope the guilt is eating away at them and ruining their lives.

My 4 year old is at home with me today, well she was last I checked, down my local beering it up. It's OK though, were not in a foreign country and I can see a corner of my place from here, when I'm not hob-nobbing and playing with my phone ;)

I don't know, I've not delved the CT aspects of the story too deeply. I know that whenever I see them speak, I feel like there is more to than they are letting on...

...

Well as long as you're popping home every couple of beers/hours, or sending someone else to peek inside the house to check there hasn't been any signs of someone stealing your child.
:D

I think their stoicness in the initial period, their lack of apparent concern, their disregard for their own child's safety tainted many people's views of the McCann parent.
I think over the time with the continual reappearance of the 'find maddie' 'donate to maddy' 'buy our book' campaigns turned this taint darker.

A little girl is missing or dead, and unfortunately for the McCann's it is their fault. On crimewatch Kate's first statement was 'It isn't our fault' it is the fault of the person who took her.
I know what she was trying to day, but it didn't help.
