Mafia 2 any good?

I liked it a lot, despite its various shortcomings. Depends what you want from a game really. For £5 it's a good buy as it has a great story that grips you and immerses you in its living world until it's over too soon.

lots of minor niggles with the game, but is still definitely worth a play through, and for £5, it'll last longer and give you a lot more enjoyment than 2 pints will ;)

This.

If you want a GTA clone set in Mafia New York, you're barking up the wrong tree.

If you treat it as it's own game, it's a lot of fun. :)

I prefere the Mafia games over GTA TBH. However I'd agree with the above post. treat it as it's own game. Personally Mafia 2 never gave me the same wow factor as the first Mafia game. I did however love it all the same. Also went on to complete the expansion pack "Joes adventure". If you like this type of game, just go for it :)

Great Story, Great Game - It is a shame it pushes you through the storey so there is a somewhat limited free roaming feel.

1940s New York is a very beautiful place to be.

Excellent game and well worth a fiver.

But as it's been said, it's NOT a GTA game, it's a cinematic experience with some driving and third person action.

If you want to drive around knocking people down and causing mayhem, stick with Just Cause 2, this is for someone after a good story driven game with high production value.

I bypassed Jimmy as I read reviews saying it was crap. I enjoyed the later Joe's adventure myself. More like extending the game with additional story in Joe's shoes. Do a google search for joe's adventure +download. Gamesplanet.com seem to do it for £6.30 atm. Played a few games since then so minds a bit foggy. Google it for reviews. If you liked Mafia 2 & wanted more, don't think you can go too wrong.

Or you could just get it on steam where it's £1.57 until 6pm.

Just completed it today, great game for the £5 it cost me during the sale. I shan't bother just yet with the DLC though. Most enjoyable storyline in a game in over ten years, voice acting was near perfection.

Thoroughly enjoying this so far. Absolutely loving the attention to detail throughout which puts most other games to shame!

Hope the story isn't too short.

this has the best story telling of any game i have played in a while

the gameplay has some flaws and it is very short but the story makes up for it

due to how short it is with little replay value i wouldn't pay more than £8-10 for it

Agreed. As far as I'm concerned the gameplay is quite good at best, the replay in it is virtually zero. Though, if I had an nvidia set-up I probably would try out physx (if I could source a very cheap second hand card), and 3d.
