Mafia II Thread

PC Zone gave this 8 / 10.. which considering they got a build as a "review" exclusive it doesn't look to promising (They are normally given exclusive early builds on the proviso they give it at least over say 80%) .. they said the characters and story let the rest of the game and technology down. I've already heard that the console versions are hampered by poor controls.. which hopefully shouldn't affect the PC version.

I haven't played the first game either, but I'm liking the look of this :D

I'll give the demo a go, and if I like it, will probably get the PC version of the game when I build my new PC.

The first game was always a flawed masterpiece I didn't find the controls all that great. Getting close now :)

1pm today is usual for XBL not sure about PSN.

I notice this will have some exclusive day one DLC on the PS3 and crossplatform DLC after that. There are also four Pre order bonus DLCs from various stores.

* Vegas Pack: Offers two additional cars and two suits for Vito

* War Hero Pack: Two military style vehicles plus two new military inspired suits, including a full uniform and fatigues.

* Renegade Pack: Two new cars; a small sports coupe and a 50s hot rod. Leather and lettermen’s jackets for Vito.

* Greaser Pack: Two hot-rod speedsters and two new suits for Vito, one with leather jacket and heavy boots, the other a leather racing suit.

The only thing is I want the lot :p

I imagine the pre-order DLC will be available at cost later on. It's annoying they don't offer a 'DLC edition' that has them all in.

Damn the frame rate is horrible in the demo. Just as bad if not worse than GTAIV in some parts.

Looks good in parts, but very jaggy in others.

I've only had a quick play but it feels very sluggish, unresponsive and the enemy AI is pretty bad. Didn't come away from the demo impressed at all so I'll be waiting for it to hit £17.99 before I buy it.

Jaggies everywhere on the 360. Graphics whores will be a bit miffed I expect.
I'd be lying if I said I was impressed. I know it's a limited demo but it doesn't seem to bring anything new as far as the city sandbox goes. To me the demo feels and plays like a prettier Mafia I.
I'll still be buying the game though, mainly for the storyline.
