Mafia II Thread

As it started I thought damn this has terrible framerate but I stopped noticing it pretty quickly. Fun game, hope the world is a bit better than the first one.
 
Definitely going with the pc version on this one, the xbox version looks and performs horribly. Tried the pc demo before and it's like playing a completely different game.
 
Yeah I was still in two minds to go for either the PS3 or PC version. Now that I've played both, it will be the PC version for sure.
 
Loved the PS3 version - sure, the PC version is better if you have a capable machine, but I don't.

Some jaggies (which I stopped noticing very quickly) and slight tearing inside the house, but the atmosphere and gameplay more than made up for that and I didn't notice any framerate slowdown.

The biggest problem was only having 10 minutes free roam - a good job it's released pretty soon.
 
If you fail to do the mission when you start back in the house another 1 min is added to the timer, got it upto 13mins in the end.

Haven't noticed any framerate issues so to speak, perhaps its something to do with your TV not the game?

Overall it seems quite enjoyable, however i'm so keen on how the cars drive.
 
Looking at screenshots on various sites the console versions either look much better in the full game or its been seriously scaled back and they're bullshots.

More than likely they are just using PC version screenshots, has happened before plenty of times.
 
So the game is awful on the consoles?

Should give the PC crowd something to crow over how our consoles cannot handle the game.

They already are! :D I'll still be getting it on PS3 though. I want as much Mafia as I can get with the extra DLC.

Besides, who knows how old this demo is? The quality might have improved during the optimization phase.
 
to be fair i do like the game and the graphics are good aim/cover is good but ffs when i shoot someone in the knee they shouldnt die :( and when i shoot someone in the heart they should be dead with one shot :( also maybe the police are a bit too accurate with their shooting especially at moving targets and i've not seen mention of a MP mode yet?
 
I am really enjoying it, looks good enough, plays well, not really had time to notice jaggies, had 1 slowdown when I blew up a lot of cars at once, but all said, I am really happy with it, and with the full game, it'll be better still!

Reminds me...I need to go shoot the petrol pumps..see if anything happens! :D
 
Seems fun and the player mechanics are generally not too bad. The car handling seems to been directly imported from Mafia though (feels like the cars are floating along the road) and the graphics are terrible really - they neither look good or perform well, I haven't figured out how they managed that. :p I'm hoping it's an early build though and the release version will be smoother.
