Mail app for Mac

I'm not fond of the bridge software they have you install, otherwise I would. I know it's silly, but I've had issues with that software in the past.
That is fair. I personally use their own mail client though which negates the need for the bridge software but I can understand why you wouldn't want to use it.

I'm looking at reviews right now and concluding that we need to unilaterally ban all content creators from using phrases like "let's get into it".

I don't think so but if you have your own domain you can add it to your Proton account and then you can get your email through the app for that domain.
Surrendering data to authorities is a pretty big issue for a service that claims to be privacy focused. Don't get me wrong, it's not like i'm planning a popular uprising any time soon, but am I misunderstanding that?

The email is encrypted so they can't share the content of the email. They can share who you email and the email subject but not the content itself. I mean even if they did give it all it'd still be better than Gmail.

That I agree with, and it is pretty reasonably priced.

I think maybe i'm looking at this the wrong way. I'm going to be clearing out my usernames and passwords in the new year anyway as I usually change them up semi regularly. I could...set up aliases as opposed to an offsite inbox and move everything over and it wouldn't be too much of an issue. There is a certain attraction to the idea of having my vpn, bitcoin wallet and mail all under one roof.

Don't forget you can use Simple Login with Proton Mail.

There are probably some YouTube videos to show how it works.
They're curiously very good at doing a half arsed job at showcasing the featureset, which is bothersome because I need to commit within the next 2 days. I have all my payments set to go out on the 28th of the month.

The only thing I can suggest is reading through this:

Sorry.

If you are going to pay for email I would highly recommend Proton Mail instead.
Proton mail has always had a huge reputation for being used by spammers, scammers, malicious content and all that sort of thing. It's one of the very few email domains that's blocked from here and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I've been using it for 3 years now and haven't had any problems and you aren't forced to use the protonmail.com domain. You can also use pm.me, proton.me and protonmail.ch as well as your own custom domain.

I think what you are saying is true for all privacy first email providers. Proton Mail offers a free tier which is open to abuse for sure but all the other privacy centric email providers suffer from the same issue of being abused.

Nobody has a reputation like Proton mail.
