Main Dealer Return Policy?

If it simply is the fact that she doesn't like the car now for some reason, she has much more chance of changing the car for another one than getting her money back.

I guess the only thing she can do is approach the dealer, say she isn't really getting on with the car, keep apologising and ask if they would consider exchanging it for another car on their forecourt and that this time, she was going to make 100% sure it is the right car.

Dealers like to keep customers happy (within a limit though), so it's worth a shot.

She's probably going to have to take a £££ hit no doubt, but if she is nice and persuasive (being fit helps too) i'm sure it can be kept to a reasonably small sum

Not for changing your mind they don't.

Has to be an irreparable fault. Which is amusing really as what choice would they have if your car was beyond repair!

VW give a 30day/1000mile 'no quibble' guarantee....

'No Quibble' exchange policy

30 day/1000 mile 'No Quibble' Exchange Policy, if for any reason, you want to change the car - maybe you have second thoughts, or it doesn't fit in your garage, for instance - we will always allow you to exchange it for another of the same price*

*As long as the vehicle is returned in the same condition as when collected.

So you can change your mind and echange the car.

I would have thought Audi would offer the same, strange that the higher 'brand' in the VAG stable offers a lower guarantee.

The are fewer of them and they are of higher value, which increases the potential cost of such an offer. Taking a £15k Golf diesel back is very different to taking back a £50k A6 3.0 TFSI.

Besides, it's a bit of an odd offer - buy a Golf and don't like it? You can take another Golf or pay more and get a Passat? It would require an odd situation to be useful I think.

Not as good an offer a sit seems, mind - because 'another of the same price' will be one with a sticker price the same as the price you paid. So you do the hard work, negotiate a few grand off, want to swap and they win becuase they get to let the new one go for sticker price :p

It's a bit odd to buy a car you haven't spent amble time making a decision on in the first place. I've never wanted to return a car because I didn't like it....I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't like it.....;)

I wonder how many returns they get?....

I would suspect that the negotiation on a replacement would reflect that in all fairness.

Probably very few. I suspect it exists as a great marketing tool when people are nervous about signing on the dotted line.. "remember, don't sign if you don't want to, but if you don't like it after 30 days you can swap it for something else"

Sounds great, doesn't it? However, in practice, you are locked in to VW and locked in to something the same price or more expensive. I suspect when most people have second thoughts, a big factor is that it's a big commitment that's too expensive.

Oh ye of too much faith!

Ball is entirely in the dealers park on that one. You won't be getting a killer deal on the replacement :p

Haha, probably not.....although if you make enough of a fuss with other potential punters in earshot it might just be a different ball game. ;)

Still, I aways treat guarantees like this as fillers rather than a serious consideration in buying a car.

Mines did - I test drove non sLine version with 19" Rims - One I bought was Sline with 20" Rims - chase up call after I bought it asking me how it was I mentioned the firmness/ride was much different from the one I test drove (My fault) and Sales guy reminded me of 30 day exchange scheme and just to let them know if I wanted to go down that road and they would start looking for different variant with price diff being my loss if I choose a poor'er spec'ed car/cheaper.

Most Audi Dealers offer a 30 day exchange scheme.

The root of the problem is so ridiculous I'm embarrassed to write it on her behalf, but needless to say theres no way BMW are taking it back from her so she's put it up for sale for what she paid for it and hasn't sold it yet...surprisingly.

A missing option, so she can't listen to her show tunes over bluetooth?

It's got too many gears.

The door cards are the wrong colour.

The mirror in the sun visor isn't big enough.

There's no vanity light.

Am I close?
