Maintenance on an SSD

Are there any sorts of things I should be doing with my rig now it's running a vertex 3? Do you have to defrag these drives or not? or are there windows drive options I don't know about that only apply to SSD's

Have you run the WEI tool? Never Defrag a SSD as they simply don't need it! You want to install a normal HDD for your Pictures, Music and Videos etc but other than that there's not much maintenance as such. I leave my rig at the logon screen for a few hours every now and again to allow my Vertex 2E to perform it's idle time garbage collection. That's about it

Not done anything. I just wondered what you had to do so that Windows 7 went into garbage collection mode and TRIM? Is it just a case of leaving the machine switched on, but just the desktop showing?

I've used have my Vertex 2E for a year now and the write speeds have taken a massive hit (now only 50mb/s). I need to do a full wipe and rebuild to get the speed back i believe, may as well update the firmware while i'm doing it.
Just a heads up just in case you have the same problem.

yeah... I heard they depreciate over time, but I thought TRIM took care of that (to a certain extent)
