i have the disk in the rom ready to format the hard drive....

so the answer to your question is no....

although this is a freshly formatted hard drive....i have been told it wont work as it was formatted using a different motherboard....

is this the problem....????

so why wasnt it even getting to the "do you want to start in safe mode etc" screen????....

cheers :D

It shouldn't matter which motherboard it was formatted on as long as nothing was installed on it when it was connected to the other board. It would be best if you just get on whit a fresh windows installation anyway. This usually includes a format.
Change the boot sequence to CD/DVD first and installation should run as normal.

EDIT: Do you wish to start in safe mode will only appear once Windows is installed.

ok thanks....nothing else is installed on the hard drive apart from windows....

but it doesnt give me the option to go into the bios....

if i could i would reformat it but just keeps restarting no matter what i press on the "do you want to start in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt or start windows normally etc" screen....

really confusing....

why would it just keep restarting????....

cheers :D

Wait I'm confused did you install Windows on that hard disk while it was on another motherboard. If so this will be your problem. MSI boards have the BIOS set to the delete key so when you see the MSI logo hit delete a few times.
