Major problems - All gone wrong now. Help!

Now I just did this.

Onboard SATA/IDE Device - switched to Disabled.

Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl mode as - IDE.

The JMicron is still popping up ... arrgghhh ...
 
FFS! Now I reinstalled the Intel Chipset driver again ...

Then I clicked to see what INFHelp file looks like ... and the a small window ...

"Setup programe(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility,

Please wait do not press any key ..."

Not even sure what it is and I did not even know once clicked ... I cannot close .... WTF!

This is going on for sometime now .... arrgghhhhh ...

I am getting rather stress now after more than a week trying to set things up ...

HELP please anyone ...
 
Okay, even after reading all of the above I am still not 100% sure of your problem. Is it just that the JMicron is popping up still?

Have you gone into Device Manager and seen if anything has yellow "!" marks next to it? If so what?

What SATA controller is the SSD plugged into?

I would let this install, as it sounds like the ChipSet drivers.

I would also let the RAID drivers install, as thinking now (late last night) the Intel ACHI is all part of this.

I would also let the JMicron update happen, it can't do any harm, as someone has said it will just sit there.

After you have let everything install I would then go to Gigabyte and install latest drivers for Intel RAID, Gigabyte LAN, and Audio if your using it.

I would do each of these one at a time, and a fresh reboot after each one.

I've read this thread, and the other thread you've posted and I'm not entirely sure what you are having problems with still.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you appear to have all the parts physically connected correctly.

You are having a problem with the Sys_Fan header, the cause of which has been explained and the temporary work around has been suggested. Case fans are there to provide airflow over all the components within a system and not for removing specific heat from one component (unlike the fan on your H50 or GPU for example).

Software side - oh my, you are getting stressed out..

I would start again, from the beginning.

1) Clear your BIOS settings
2) Install Win 7
3) Put on some Anti-Virus protection
4) Go to gigabyte website and download the latest driver set for your motherboard (see link in the post above)
4a) Just install all the components. Your system may not need them all but it's simpler to get everything rather than hunting through the BIOS to disable functionality.
5) Install office at this point

Yes, the JMicron is still popping up in windows even after clicking "yes" to it.

I let it installed and it is still popping up!

Checked on Device Manager and there is nothing with yellow "!" marks even after searching through all of them.

So how do I get rid of this JMicron pop up?

The two remaining problems are:

1) How to get rid of the JMicron pop up in windows all the time? I have clicked "yes" every time and it is still popping up! - this is the one that is driving me insane now.:confused:

2) The 4 pins SYS_FAN is not supplying enough power to the 120mm akasa case fan but that is a minor problem for now. I just have to warn others that if they intend to use the SYS_FAN for case fan. Not happy but for my sanity I will let this go for now.:mad:

I will clear BIOS if I am at the absolute dead end but so far someone at OcUK support said clear the JMicron at BIOS .... great ... where? How do they expect others to know where to find them? I tried but where?

have you disabled User account control yet?

edit: because i am currently incredibly bored, ive sent a message to gigabyte regarding disabling the jmircon controller, and an ETA on the bios fix for this fan. Never used giga tech support before, but hopefully i should get a reply in 24hrs (touchwood)

No, no I have not even changed anything at all in Win7 apart from BIOS changing to AHCI that's all.

I think you should not use the "G-Sata" port (nearest pair to the IDE port).

Then if you're using the "normal Sata" ports, I think your Bios settings should be:
- SATA/RAID AHCI Mode: Disabled
- Sata Port 0-3: Enabled (native mode)

If the Jmicron driver is related to Gigabytes 's Sata-Raid controller it should go away by disabling: Onboard SATA/IDE Device (Set on Diabled)

Thanks for advice so let me describe how I connect them.

No, I am not using the two white SATA ports (they are JMicron as I was told). I use the two Blue ones away from IDE port.

I am using the following:

a) Away from white ports - Top two blue ports for SSD (disk One - SATA2_0) and HHD (disk Two - SATA2_2) ... not exactly sure which one is on top ...

b) Top blue SATA port nearest/next to White SATA port is connected to SSD (disk One - SATA2_0)

c) The next top blue SATA port nearest/next to blue SATA port for HHD (disk Two - SATA2_2).

b) Disk 2 not connected to power yet.

e) Below the Blue SATA Port for HHD (disk Two) the BluRay DVD (SATA2_3).is connect to this port.

None are connected to GSATA2_1 or 0

In my BIOS I set them to:
- PCH SATA Control mode - choose from IDE, RAID (XHD) or AHCI - I choose AHCI.
- SATA Port0-3 Native mode: Enabled.

- Onboard SATA/IDE Device - now disabled as per advice.

If the Jmicron driver is related to Gigabytes 's Sata-Raid controller it should go away by disabling: Onboard SATA/IDE Device (Set on Diabled)

Nope. Still appear in Windows even after your advice.

Seeing that nobody else posted back for a while, and given that I have no particular knowledge of your mobo or of SSDs, I decided to post the following, which I got to read yesterday since my own SSD is in the post.

I guess a fresh install is your best bet. Before doing so, for your SSD, a secure erase is recommended. Google it. (referenced in 1st link)

You should also read these two things and search on other forums for SSD configuration with your mobo.

Okay I will post an update for all to see how I eventually "solved" the problems.

In the meantime there are few more problems that just popped up today so I will see if someone can point me to the right direction for solutions.:eek:

Hi Folks,

I would like to say a big thank you to all who haven taken time out to post the necessary advices for me during the past few days (or since last week) or to point me to the direction for solving the problem of my new rig.

It's time to update everyone on my progress now. (this is steep learning curve but am not going to let technology defeat me ... :D)

The problems:

1) JMicron pop-up.

2) Mobo SYS_FAN 4-pins power supply is not capable of powering up 120mm Akasa Apache fan.

3) Mobo Realtek speakers (All) speakers output jacks not producing sounds. The front panel headphone jack is working though.

4) One beeb occasionally (not booting up beeb) can be heard. The beeb does not sound loudly but rather soft and it sounded like a "split" beeb i.e. not a solid sound but something like a loose part.

5) Installed 2 HDD (Samsung F3 1TB - 3 partitions so far)

6) Internet connection need sorting out ... server side problem I guess.

7) Windows diagnostic tools identified the followings:

- "The NVIDIA display driver service service has reported an invalid current state 32"

"- The TBPanel service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified"

Solutions 1)

- Went back to BIOS. Double checked all settings were in AHCI for SSD & HDD (HDD was added on after I felt everything was "ok").

- Disabled Onboard SATA/IDE devices as I think they were controlled by JMicron. or Gigabyte. I want Intel if that makes sense.

- Then clean re-installation of Win 7 by booting up from DVD in order to wipe out all the previous installation. Well, I thought what the hell ... since I have already messed up a bit. Refused me several times as I did not press "any key" instead I pressed Enter ... what a pain.

- Checked on website for instruction. Got it and followed it step- by-step and finally it installed.

- Once Win7 64bits was installed. Get this ... initially, I have something like 20 odd days to activate my Windows OS but now it suddenly changed to 3 days! I hope they are not thinking I have started distributing the OS illegally. What the hell I installed it in the same mobo & SSD! That's Microsoft for me.

- Okay ... this is the part where I solved the JMicron problems. It's time to install the chipset/mobo/speaker/ etc drives. All the new drivers were downloaded from Gigabyte website rev 1.1. Seven in all.

- I installed all drivers from Gigabyte (7 in total) except these two:
a) Motherboard driver gsata bootdisk 64 5 series 2.
b) Motherboard driver sata gb sata2raid 5 series.

Then continued with installation of all other drives for graphic, TV cards etc.

Reboot. JMicro has gone! :D Woohoo! Problem solved ...

Solution 2)

- use PWM split cable to power the two front case fans with power from molex and connect to mobo header CPU_FAN. Now I need to know if Gigabyte will solve this problem and wait.

Solution 3)

- No solution yet. Rear speaker no sound output ... arrgghhh ... need to find solution to this soon.

Solution 4)

- Installed 2nd HDD (Samsung F3 1TB) and partition following this instruction. Went smoothly and now I have 3 partitions with one unallocated for future dual boot Linux.

Solution 6)

- Will get someone to set it up for me as there is a known issue with Win7 at the moment. Server side problem. So let's hope I will be on the net with the new rig by the end of this week.

Solution 7)

- I have not checked the Windows Diagnostic tools after the clean re-installation yet ... so let's see later.


So there you go ... a steep learning curve and very stress at times but luckily you folks are there to point to the right direction. Thank you.

Now, I need to installed security software as I am still unable to connect to internet yet.

p/s: a bit worry about the beeb ... Windows diagnostic said RAM was 100% fine.
