Sorry, my post was badly worded :p

Out of the box you get 13 Gig free, the other 7 or so Gig is reserved for system stuff and AFAIK can't be used for demos, music etc so you may not have used as much as you thought.

If you delete the 4 video clips it gives you then you save another gig (not sure if that takes it upto 14 or just 13) I seem to remember mine only showing 12GB free when I got it and then went upto 13GB when I deleted the movie files but I can't remember If i already had downloaded a few demos or not before then

Yeah could be, deleting all the crap that came pre-loaded was one of the first things I did, so it could have taken it to 14.

ok, thanks for that..

So back to my question.. could you put a larger drive into the caddy?

Yes physically you could if you mean larger in capacity rather than physical size. Won't do you any good though as it's formatted with a proprietary Microsoft filesystem with a load of preloaded content. Maybe someone will figure out how to take an image of it and copy it to a new drive but I don't think that's happened yet and I guess it'd be illegal anyways.

tbh that dvd drive does have to be quieter, i've noticed that with old cd-roms and some dvd drives that it is the same however there are good dvd drives that stay quiet throughout operation, a old nec dvd-rw (2x + writer) was fine never gave me any noise really. Now im with a updated dual layer writer and its a noisy beast sometimes.

One thing they really need to sort out, is the whole downloading issue. Why do we have to sit and watch the progress bar?

They should add a download manager, so you can choose a load of things to download then go back to the dashboard. A shut down when downloads have finished option would be good to, means you could just leave it on overnight.

Apparantly they are doing something to the download process, so we'll have to wait and see.

Oh, and Divx support! ;)

You come across a bit, ungrateful there?

You can format the hdd through the dashboard so try it and see if you've a sata 2.5" hdd.
