Make cannabis a Class A Drug, say Conservative Police Commissioners...

From a health perspective they should scrap the system and build a new one ranking drugs based on harm to the user and society as advised by Prof David Nutt.

Except for the bit about David Nutt, that is exactly how the system works. The catch is: who defines what the harm is? And since he is now paid to make his pronouncements, anything he says should be regarded with caution. And he hit the headlines because he couldn't see the harm in MDMA despite people dying from it. (I now fully expect the various Ecstacy defenders to pop in with all the reasons why people who died due to the side-effects of MDMA weren't killed by the drug...)

Cannabis is, in some eyes, classed as a 'gateway drug'. This is nonsense.

If anything, it can be a gateway drug as it is illegal and one need to see a 'dealer' to obtain it. These dealers may or may not push other drugs but the gateway is only the way it is obtained as it can normalise that type of purchase.

The real gateway drug is alcohol and we ain't going to be making that illegal as it is so ingrained into society. Going for a beer or going to an Amsterdam style coffee shop are entirely the same thing. The only difference is that with a load of stoned people, you don't get violence. Manager and tax cannabis correctly will not increase Class A drug use if it is normalised like alcohol.

I get oil with thc included. Works well for my insomnia. (On script)
These people your replying to have some wild ******* ideas on how things like THC work.

Medically thc with cbd at the right doses is fantastic medically, but in there herp derp minds "ermahgerd thc, they are junkies, derpity derp".

They would be surprised to learn how many people in the UK already have legal medical card and are prescribed medical cannabis.
You can literally order strains right to your doorstep (legally). It works very well even now with its somewhat limited scope.

It works so so well for my sleep. I get a 30ml bottle, and I order when I need it, because I use 0.5ml a time, it lasts me absolutely ages.

Edit. Life changing. No smell. No fuss.

Don’t feed the troll. What he doesn’t realise is that in his dystopian world where folk smoking a bit of weed get a bullet, he and his ilk will likely have had one in the back of their heads long before the pot smokers.

He's just an online character isn't he really, I reckon at the first sight of any bullets he'd be running away like a little girl :D

If it was the cannabis we had in 60s/70s/80s it would be a stupid call, however since the advent of skunk and other super strength hybrids it likely IS a class A drug.
Problem is lot of weed is laced with stuff nowadays, they spray it with all sort of stuff. Is it was legalised people would know what they are buying.

If people want to eat edible cannabis in my house go for it, I might indulge also
I’ve had cookies made with ‘cannabutter’ and it was certainly a very enjoyable experience. Much more enjoyable than a belly full of alcohol and no hangover or ‘booze blues’ the next day. Wouldn’t surprise me if the drinks industry lobby heavily in the background for keeping marijuana illegal. I can imagine that eventually a not insignificant number of people would switch to edibles from alcohol if it were legalised and regulated.
Want to go out for a nights partying - there’s a strain for that.
Want to have a chilled night in front of the telly - there’s a strain for that.
Want a good nights sleep - guess what, there’s a strain for that too.

I don’t think anyone would recommend smoking it daily!

Exactly. That's like saying you drink daily and wouldn't recommend it. Everything is best in moderation.

I am not a big fan of the smell of it, I hate the smell of tobacco too, so I think the same rules should apply with public smoking. But edibles are perfect for no smell.

Well that’s the other thing, the reason it’s primarily smoked is because it’s illegal. If it were legalised I’d bet a lot of money that quite a number of those currently smoking it would switch to vaping or edibles so reducing the likelihood of the smell being everywhere.
Should also be noted that smoking weed is a very ineffective way to get at the ‘good’ stuff.
