Unfortunately my radiators mean that I have small dead zones so Mayhems Aurora works out extortionately expensive to buy 2-4 bottles of booster to bring it back.

Anyway after some research I found out how to make my own, simply purchase some Titanium Dioxide coated Mica Powder. You can buy 100grams for about the same price as a bottle of Aurora, but this will last you years.

Heres a small video showing how adding 2.5 grams to the system goes.

Surely if you keep adding more and more powder as it loses the "shine" it'll get really gunked up eventually?

Im 99% certain the blocks arn't being clogged up by it, as they have the semi-transparent tops and you can see the fluid moving through them fine.

I believe that the issue lies in the right angle the water hits in the radiator just before going to the outlet or just at the inlet. It would be a kind of dead spot so to speak as the water would want to "sweep" via the path of least resistance, so, I figure one of 2 things, either something horrible will happen, or eventually i'll fill this dead zone with so much powder, that it wont have room for more to settle out and it will stay suspended!

I bet if you ran the pump in reverse for a sort while it would disturb the stationary powder since the dead spots would not be in the same places with the flow going the other way. You still wouldn't catch me putting this **** in my system though. However, good job for you you've found a much cheaper way of keeping it going if you do want to use it.

Ill presume you haven't got a clue what Zeta potential is and hope you can afford to replace your pump.

Don't worry Mick, ive got a whole bunch of other things lined up if this doesn't work :) There's only so many ways to mix a rheoscopic fluid up, petal dust, zein, shellac, glycol stearate etc...

Currently though after 6 months of using the titanium dioxide mica, nothing adverse appears to be happening.

If there's nothing educational to say, then saying nothing would have actually been the sensible choice, as you just look like you're trying to scare people in to not using this method in case it results in sales of aurora fluid dropping.

I remember a similar reaction on another forum when someone else dared to reveal the "secret" behind aurora. Anyway, no one should be using this in a 24/7 system anyway if you ask me, though if you take this much cheaper route then at least you are not wasting your money.

You could always just explain why this is a bad idea rather than having a huff.

Yep +1. This would have been the perfect time for Mayhems to explain why it would be more beneficial to use their product but no, lets be sarcastic and rolleyes.

lol im defo not in a huff in fact we laughing our ass off and i have no need to explain trade secrets or why its a bad idea, ill let you find out on your own and at cost to your equipment.

Sorry but if you think its offensive then lets be honest that's your problem not ours (any one who know me knows i'm direct with answers). I've just given you a warning from that point on its up to you guys what you do and good luck.

Like Joe said this is the perfect time to explain why people should be paying for your products rather than doing it themselves, I can't see how explaining how it could damage equipment is a trade secret no ones expecting you to explain how you've gotten around this particular problem.

Wow, this thread is certainly putting me off using Mayhems fluid in the build I'm currently putting together, which is a shame really as I quite like the look of some of the fluids. Oh well, customer service etc will always be more important, and doesn't look like dealing with customers in a decent fashion is a top priority for Mayhems!

I suspect the reality is there isn't anything to explain, and it's busy scaremongering.
