Makelele threatened with 2 game ban

Yet another ridiculous rule from the stupid bunch of monkeys. I don't know what's wrong with them but they seem intent on ruining the game and annoying everyone in the process.

Fifa/Uefa or Chelsea? ;)

That is an absolute joke. Domenech is a complete ******. He's retired its his decision, why should you be allowed to tell him what he has to do?

JM has just said Makelele will have to play for France and if he doesn't he will get banned for 4 games not the normal 2  Fifa are mad, if someone retires you can't force them to play.

JM's comments were funny. he said " maka is not a footballer, he's a slave. he has no freedom."
I think it is a very stupid decision. Now imagine if Makalele doesnt really want to play but does go and then decides to have an awful game albiet either just standing around or scoring an own goal etc (which he wouldnt do as he's a good professional), what happens then?

if i was maka i would just play really badly until he stops being picked. this is the second time he has retired and coming up to 34 he has the right to retire.

Chelsea Football Club has made a statement with regards to Claude Makelele and international football.

The statement reads:

Chelsea Football Club will be making further representations to the French Football Federation, after discussions with Claude Makelele, regarding his desire to retire from international football.

Chelsea FC believes that a player should have the freedom to choose about his own international career, especially in the case of Claude who has served his country at the highest level and with distinction for several years.

This view was expressed to the French national coach Raymond Domenech in a meeting last week at our training ground. We understand the letter of the law is very clear on this subject, and the ramifications for Claude and Chelsea if he is called up but does not play.

We would like to stress that this is not a club versus country issue, we are not seeking conflict with the FFF.

This issue is about supporting the wishes of one of our players whose past commitment to his country cannot be called into question.

I think Domenech is being a complete **** to be honest :(

One does have to question the logic of forcing a player to play for his country when he doesn't want to. For a start, it's different from club football where players are contracted to their clubs and therefore legally obliged to do so. It's also true that the motivation is unlikely to be there, I mean Makelele is hardly going to risk getting injured by diving in to make tackles etc. Why not give a younger player a chance to establish himself in the side?
