Somewhere, in a field in cheshire... alright!
Hello all,

I've got a 1.5TB HD in an Icybox that isnt recognized when connected via USB. I'd like to know how I can make it so it is recognized by any computer when connected via USB. Am I right thinking the USB alone is enough to power it?

Can anyone offer any advice please?

Thanks.

If it's a 3.5" enclosure (which with a 1.5Tb drive it will be) then it needs to be powered from the mains with the supplied brick.

So once I've connected a power supply will it be recognized by windows? I can't try it at the moment, not got a power cable handy.

Yep, you'll need power from the wall. If Windows still doesn't recognise the drive, you'll most likely have to format it first.

Right click on "Computer", click "Manage" and finally "Disk Management"

EDIT: Mike just beat me to it ;)
