Making Money easy (Idea)

People old enough will remember this is what was called a "menage" only the OP is proposing sometihng on a far bigger and wholly unmanageable scale.

What used to happen in the good old days when people where paid weekly was this:

  • You had a workforce of say 26 people
  • The names were put into a hat and drawn at random.
  • Every Friday/Payday you gave the person controlling the "menage" £10
  • At one point in the 26 weeks you did not pay your £10 but got the "kitty" of £250.

Nothing more that a very simple saving scheme. For the first 4 or 5 years of my adult working life every place I worked had one of these. When things went monthly salaries it all stopped.

I think I am on to a great Idea it just needs a little tweaking to not wait that many years, maybe if we have less people or more money in a week, there has be a loophole

There's no loophole!

If you had five people paying in £100, every five weeks you'd get £500. Great, except that's the same amount you'd have paid in.....

It doesn't matter how you juggle the number of people or the amount to pay in. Either not everyone wins in which case it's a lottery, or everyone wins exactly the same amount it cost to play the game in the first place.

Jimz, you're thinking too small.

Get everyone in the UK to put in instead, that way, every week someone will get about £60m, GUARANTEED!

Seriously Jimz, you need to get busy with this idea and get it rolled out nationally as quickly as possible. If you're fast, you'll be able to beat Chris Tarrant or Ant & Dec to it and create a format that you can sell WORLD WIDE.

Yes exactly that, they would be removed but still have to pay.

What if they refuse?
What if they die and their widow gets a phonecall "hi it's Jimz here off of OcUK forums, your late husband "{TXH}2L33T4U"'s estate now owes us £4, cough up or else!"

I can't figure out whether Jimz is just trolling, or for some reason cannot comprehend the logic of why this won't work. Either way, the stupidity is hurting my brain.

For starters you need a licence to operate a lottery.
Once you've spent a shed load of money obtaining said licence you would then need to recoup that cost.
You could take the cost as a one of from the first round, which would mean that the first winner would not receive anywhere near as much as the next winner which is unfair.
So, to keep it fair the startup costs would have to be deduced in instalments which means that the operator would have no chance of recouping the money.

4.7 stars. Would read again! Perhaps the OP should put aside £1 a week into a savings account, 2119 years later he'd have a great deal of money put aside!
