im looking to make my own protein shake as the powder seems expensive. anyone got any good recipies or tips of what to put in?

basically im looking for a drink i can have after/during weights

im sure most protein drinks work out something like 50p-75p per shake when bought online at most of the places that do discounts.

personally i cba with the trouble of making my own to save that amount of money!

Take 1/2 pint of milk then add a handful of nuts,a tin of tuna and some oats.Blend and enjoy.

Seriously dude..get some protein powder :) It doesn't have to be expensive.

Linky

5Kg for £24 seems like a steal to me

at 30g per serving, that works out stupidly cheap, very very stupidly cheap!
tho pre and post workout and maybe pre bedtime, i would double those up, but still, its very cheap!

Holland and Barrett are doing the whey body fortress stuff half price at the moment for a massive tub. Normally £22 its down to £11.

Not bad tasting either.

Why pay £22.93 though when h+b do it for £11 like i posted above?

the only one for that price i can see on the h+b site is for 908g so you would have to buy 5+ to get anywhere near the 5kg the other site offers for £22.

You have to go instore
mate you're talking out of your posterior, H&B don't sell cheap quality protein, they sell expensive garbage. I can't even be bothered to go and look at their site but I can pretty much guarantee that to buy 5kg of protein from there would cost around £50+ and it will be full of sweeteners, fillers and just low % protein content.

Breamy goto myprotein and they will beat ANY uk price by 5% guaranteed. At the bottom of their homepage is a pricematcher. Copy & paste the URL of the cheapest protein you can find on the net. They will match it, then type the code MP5500 in and you will get a further 5% off, it's that simple and that cheap :)

I think the cheapest I've managed so far was £20 for 5kg inc delivery!!

Oh and it's also the highest quality protein you'll find, it's 80% pure protein, mixes in water with a fork if needed but I'd highly recommend getting a shaker, they're a godsend :)

If you want something to drink while you train then get some L-leucine and mix 10g with 10g whey, mix them in water and sip that while you workout, it's very anabolic as it will stop your body burning any muscle for energy while you workout. Also incredible for recovery, cheap too!

Be aware the leucine is like fairy dust and tastes awfull, you WILL need a shaker cup to get it to mix. Worth it though ;)

EDIT - Sorry PAz didn't read your post properly, could have saved myself 10 minutes there typing this out :o you didn't mention the 5% off though...

Maybe I'm weird but I love the taste in water. :o
Yeah me too! :D

I honestly can't see why people complain about it, it doesn't really taste of anything, a little creamy but certainly nothing to say it's bad

One trick I like doing when I'm cutting is to buy some Robinsons sugar-free jelly. Add 30g-40g of whey and let it set. Absolutely delicious, pure protein meal, zero fat, zero carb and it fills you up. A bonus is the gelatin is very good for joints so double bonus

Can't have the MyProtein stuff on its own with water. Tried it for a while but couldn't stand it.

Now mix it with a bit of nesquick poured over my cereal in the morning and with Robinsons sugar free Barley all the other times. :D

Quality protein though. Don't fell bloated and doesn't give me uber bad wind and squits like the other powders. The fact its not pumped full of artificial sweetners helps!

With the stuff from my protein.co.uk. Does it come witha scoop? I can't be bothered going through it all to find there isn't one lol
