it's good, don't worry about it.
Go to KLCC, Chinatown, Little India, there are also lots of other places to check out, try virtualtourist for ideas.

My dad has been working in KL for nearly 3 years and we make regular visits to go see him, it's like a home from home now, everything is really cheap its extremely hot and the people are really friendly. Theres a million and one shopping centres to go to and theres so much to do.

I go to Malaysia every year for holiday and usually spend a few days in KL and the rest of the time on Langkawi Island.
People are generally very friendly and you will be amazed at just how cheap everything is. KL is like any other major city i have been to, very busy and plenty of bars, clubs, resteraunts, etc.
Eating out is well cheap and i would recommend the rotating tower resteraunt at the Federal Hotel if you fancy decent food with a stunning view :). KL towers is a must do trip although you need to get there fairly early if you want a ticket to go up.

cool guys, your making me feel a little better about going now! I presume the majority speak english as well over there.

Just never been anywhere alone beofre, Im only 20, still a a baby :D , but I'm armed with a company credit card so it will be all good. If it really is that cheap I will take a load of cash of my own and a big suitcase :D

I hope you don't get irritated by air-con because it's all you'll experience when you're there.

I have mates who live in KL and it sounds a great place.

Myself and my brother have been there frequently as our family is over there :)

Luckily for you it has become extremely westernised in recent years so you can get everything: Extra Value Meal for £1ish, Topshop, Mark and Sparks... all in the Shopping Centre. And English is widely spoken.

Along with what people have said try and get to:

Petronas Towers - used in a film - can't remember which one right now :o check opening times though if you want to go up.

Night Markets - they are amazing! Next time I am going with an empty suitcase.

Batu Caves - run up the steps... ha ha impossible.

We should be going back next Christmas for our cousin's wedding, can't wait :)

Have fun!

I love it there - definitely on my list of places to visit again at some point...

Take a trip across to Penang to do the tourist thing.

Ooooh! Pepsi in Malaysia is absolutely divine. Definitely my favourite of their 'local variations'.

And pizza hut did a strange pepsi-and-jelly drink thing :/

*n

PS: Bring me back some mangosteens. Ta.

I'm a fan of KL now after avoiding the place for near enough 20 years. Compared to the concrete jungle that is Bangkok I actually find KL a far more pleasant place to be, I concur with those that say it's cheap, that honestly surprised me.

You've got everything you need there from Marks & Sparks to Boots, you'll end up leaving with far more than you took.

I'm quite sure you'll enjoy, a lot of fit women in KL as well ;)

If you have the chance, go to Sabah (borneo islands), which is about 2 hours by plane from KL. Cheaper and nice than KL. :D

That's where I'm from btw.

In rubber plantations the women who tapped the rubber got scared of the rats so they employed cobras to kill off the rats.

The women then got scared of the cobras   so they devised a naughty plan of finding the biggest owls they could to come and eat the cobras.

Apparently they're about 3ft tall. If you see one, run.

somewhere i fancy visiting, very important question - how much is the beer ?

the only thing I need to know is what is the limit on the company credit card is, but as they have put me in a 5 star hotel for 2 weeks it should be quite high!
I have broadband so I'll still make an appearance on here is, I'll tell you how much the beer is!

Very expensive compared to everything else, you mainly get carlsberg and tiger, from what i remember it's around £3.50 a pint.

EDIT: Oakesy2001uk which hotel are you staying in?
